Some things never 'change'
Negative campaigning? Based on history the current discourse seems almost mild. Consider the Thomas Jefferson attacks:
Quote:
Some claim Jefferson was actually a Muslim, after all, he DID own a Koran. Accusing a candidate of being Muslim; as Sienfield would say, "Not thats theres anything wrong with that". There is nothing new under the sun. And so it goes today, sound bites, bit's and pieces of quotes, pictures, all designed to mislead. The good news is, the American public are not nearly as stupid as many pundits and fear mongers would like to think. The sky is not falling, America will find a way and grow and prosper, no matter who gets elected. **) An amended 'Godwins Law' should include: The inevitable use of the word socialism. Club Cobra, well on it's way to amending 'Godwins Law'! :D |
Kinda looks like Jefferson and O may be related if all they said about Jefferson is true.
|
Jefferson was no Muslim. I posted here in another thread why he had a Qu'ran: it has to do with the Barbary Pirates attacking U.S. Vessels.
Jefferson was also not a "real" Christian. He believed that Jesus was just a "good teacher." He is best classified as a "diest;" he believed in a god (some source indicate even the Judeo-Christian God), but did not believe Jesus is the Son of God, nor did he believe in the resurrection of Jesus. His bible ended with something like "There laid they Jesus." Polititians will always sling mud, if for no other reason than the differing views on the issues. |
Ernie...I thought you said you weren't gonna hang around the Lounge due to all the slinging. You certainly made comments in threads in other Forums about it.
And now you start a new thread? Tell ya what buddy...you're here voluntarily, so by starting this thread, I deem that you hereby wave any right or ability to b!tch about the Lounge. Okey dokey? :p |

Is this another wishful "Don't worry, Obama's okay...." thread? I'm plenty worried - at 43 years old, I already do not recognize my own country anymore. Carter was the worst president in my lifetime, and wins a Nobel prize. Clinton should have been impeached before his first year was done - and won again in 1996. Obama, or "Barack the Magic Negro/New Messiah" (as Limbaugh calls him) is a Socialist. That's a FACT whether you like him or not. If you have a job or own anything, be very afraid..... |
only had a week to go, and off the wagon, eh?
 You might find a book interesting. The 4th turning. |
Quote:
Ok, NCM, In your own words please, what exactly do you think a socialist is, and how exactly does Obama fit that description? |
Steve,
You're just feeling brave because you think you won't be one of the ones sent to the Obama/Ayers re-education camps. :) From the older guys that I'm talking to there is already a move afoot that will be bringing a major slowdown to small business as well as an outflux of capital out of the country. The whining is going to be thunderous. |
Ah, the writings of which are akin of those of Sir Walter Raleigh.
:D :D |

So what are those businesses going to do when people start spending again? They are going to get replaced by a new crop of younger business owners eager to take a bunch of profits. |
BTW Bernie,
I'm curious...what reason did you give to the guy you fired? |
Just think, that murdering sonofa***** Ayers is now going to have a direct line into the White House.
Along with The Wright Reverend. |

Do you think their attitudes might suddenly change? -Roger |
I'm getting old and I'm pulling back on the amount of work I do. Since I account for 90+% of all the new engagements plus spend my weekends keeping up with all of the things necessary to keep the guys working I'm pulling back on my efforts and so will only engage enough to keep 2 guys working. I've been extremely generous on the percentage of hourly charge that flowed through to them and it's not worth my time any more if I'm going to be paying a larger percentage of what I keep. It was either that or the passthrough would be reduced by the amount that they roll back the Bush tax cuts along with the additional load that will be placed on me. My net has to yield an amount that makes it worth my time. He didn't agree so he's on his own and I wish him luck in his endeavors. It might end up that it becomes so onerous that I'll shut the whole damn thing down and enjoy what I've made so far.
I will now have time to drive my Cobra and Corvette and play with my grandchildren. :) As you may have noticed some time ago I changed my sig line to reflect ex-Sheepdog. This dog now really likes the thought of lying at the top of the hill in the warm sunshine. Gotta wolf problem? Call the shepherd (Obama). |

Steve,
I'm not spending diddly. In fact I want the spending to stop and would gladly donate my financial acumen to go through the appropriation bills and strip out all unneeded spending. So if taxes need to be raised to support the spending then raise them on the people who want to spend. How about a 50% rate for Democrats? |
Quote:
I would be happy to let you go through the books and get rid of unneeded spending. There is a lot of it. I would be happy to have a LOT of people go through the books and cut spending. And I have no problem taxing the people who want to spend, but it seems to me that you still owe for Iraq and tax giveaways to oil companies.:p I despise the DNC because of their tax and spend policies, but I tend to despise the GOP even more for their spend and spend policies. |
So wait! Are you telling me that tax giveaway to the oil companies didn't work?
