Why would all the election threads be shut?

Obama doesnt waste any time limiting our freedom of speech. Huh? I thought this would be the last place that would take a foothold. Ron, Jamo, you guys are playing right into it.

trularin 11-05-2008 05:49 AM

I believe Ron said it best and I will probably botch it as a quote, but please let me paraphrase:

This site is about cars, cobras in particular, with occasional discussions of other topics.

Ron, you can fix that if you like, but I am tired of reading posts from our members calling each other names, attacking their characters and ... basically ... acting like a bunch of politicians.

CC is great because our people are great. We belittle ourselves when we resort to personal attacks on each other when it is not in our character ( speaking of the majority and not certain individuals ).

Okay, I am off the soap box. Haven't stepped on it since the last incident.

:D :D

I totally agree, by closing all the threads you have done exactly what is meant by "limiting free speech".
I feel that even though some of you might not agree with, or like how the elections turned out, the actual results were expected for a longtime..so deal with it.

I think for the good of the America we need to support our President and stand up for (hopefuuly) some positive changes.
On the other hand we need to be able to express our thoughts and positions on all issues ..past...present and future. If Obama doesn't do a good job, he will go the way of Bush. It's going to be interesting to watch what happens down the road...don't worry about the end of the world or America, we will do whats best in the end.

RAW...RAW ...RAW!

With that said, I guess I'll go out in the garage and clean the Cobra, listen to some oldtime rock and drink about fifteen beers.

Bill

Y'all really need Jamo's last post on the "election rules" and then relax about your "Free Speech" issues.
You don't now nor ever had free speech here or anyother for that matter. If you want that, you have to own your own website.

It would be nice for the political tempts to come down around here and not keep fanning the flames on this election.

...or, you could always discuss something else for a nice change.

As much as I can't wait for the next four years to go by, I agree 392...it's over, calm down and move on. If you can't take losing, go buy a bigger motor or move somewhere else...Savage Nation has plenty of board space for angry vast right wingers, which reminds me to go over then and post something about Obama's promise of change in his next term...hahaha.

Listen carefully... I won't even address the 'free speech' accusations... this is simply a matter of bringing our house back to normal.

We have allowed great latitude over the past few months, even at the expense of some pretty hard feelings and some hurtful accusations among our members.

Trularin has it right.... don't lose sight of that fact that Brent, Jamo and myself work some pretty long hours to maintain the best Cobra site on the web, if not one of the best car sites out there.

The Lounge is here to allow friendships to deepen among members by allowing non-Cobra talk about life beyond the cars....to build better relationships by giving insight to your family, your pets and other interests...as well as your sense of humor.

It was not meant to be a whorehouse of propaganda and mean-spirited dialog, understandably caused by strong passions of ideology and political beliefs.

Nov. 4 has come and gone. the nation has done what it saw fit. Some are happy. Some are not.

Get past it, get over it.

The old threads will start looking pretty petty as time moves on. That's why they are closed.

At risk of pontificating, there are some pretty relevant things to discuss, going forward, if you are so inclined..

Like fixing a broken economy, winning two wars, and figuring a way to stop pouring our dwindling capital into the Middle-Eastern sand.

In that light, how much Palin's outfit cost, whether the birth certificate had a raised seal, whether one campaign was erratic or another candidate knew old a$$holes from the 60's....

...all that is looking pretty trivial and, frankly, yesterday's news.

It's back to fraternity, and not divisive, name calling ugliness. The moderators will continue to try and keep the dialog off the gravel and on the asphalt.

We want all of you to enjoy it here and we want us to enjoy making it possible for you.

thanks

I think the main reason the threads were locked down is because you have yet to change the color of your car from that horrible shade of yellow to a more mainstream blue or red with white stripes :p:LOL:;)

Either that or because you live in Morristown, NJ :JEKYLHYDE

Now we can get on to other important issues like why small blocks rule over those ancient overly expensive pigs called big blocks. Give it up all you left-wing big block lovers ... you know that the world is passing you by.

Bugman 11-05-2008 08:36 AM

Now..now..we all know deep down inside that big blocks are better. Ask any woman and she'll tell you that size does matter!

Ron61 11-05-2008 08:39 AM

Actually you can get a lot of Big Blocks over at Silvan Harbor. A little rusty maybe as they use them as boat anchors and to hold the floating docks in place. They do work much better than a Small Block.

Ron :p

Wait a minute Warren, as I recall a BB was needed to beat ferrari....and did!. Thank you very much.

Ron61 11-05-2008 08:51 AM

Perry,

So did a small block after Ferrari went crying to the rules committee and got the Big Blocks banned. Some Frenchman took one of the original GT-40s and put a 351 I think it was in it and won Le-Mans after Ford quit there.

Ron

427 S/O 11-05-2008 08:57 AM

Oh!..........

Jamo 11-05-2008 10:58 AM

And with that...I'm closing this thread as well.

Really folks...get back to fun. :)
