Greed Costs Contractor
Sometimes it is better to take less and get something that complain and get nothing.

I recall seeing that story when it first broke, some months ago. Glad to see an upadte on it as I always wondered how it turned out. From the time I first saw it and now it seem's like a 'no brainer', the home owner get's the money, end of story.
I don't understand the laws that would allow not only the contractor who discovered the cache AND the heirs to be entitled to anything? My interpretation of what is right is based on the biblical parable of the man who found 'treasure' in a field and sold all that he had in order to buy the field to gain the treasure. Perhaps the bank that holds the mortgage on the house is also entitled to a portion of the treasure? Strange to think that whatever might lie hidden within MY property may not be exclusively mine! Things like mineral and water rights are done deal of course, those are usually stipulated within the original contract for the property. How the legal system arrived at the conclusion with this money leaves me baffled... |
Ernie, When you tear into one of your walls and find it is full of $50 dollar Gold pieces, just keep quiet and sell the ones you don't want on the collector market. Ron :) |
