Robbing Children of their childhood and culture...
Some say having students dress up as pilgrims and Native Americans is 'demeaning.' Their opponents say they are elitists injecting politics into a simple children's celebration.
By Seema Mehta November 25, 2008 For decades, Claremont kindergartners have celebrated Thanksgiving by dressing up as pilgrims and Native Americans and sharing a feast. But on Tuesday, when the youngsters meet for their turkey and songs, they won't be wearing their hand-made bonnets, headdresses and fringed vests. Parents in this quiet university town are sharply divided over what these construction-paper symbols represent: A simple child's depiction of the traditional (if not wholly accurate) tale of two factions setting aside their differences to give thanks over a shared meal? Or a cartoonish stereotype that would never be allowed of other racial, ethnic or religious groups? http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la...,1458033.story |
The country is done.. Put a fork in it.. I lived in LA County for five years.. I felt like a foreigner the whole time I was living there.. I just learned the day after the Election that the chemical plant I work at is closing some time next year.. How can a country remain viable if it doesn't produce anything and only consumes?

We as a Nation are in a sad state of affairs. The Country & values I knew grewing up has faded away. Black & White is now Gray. A few things have changed for the better, but too many things have changed for the worse.
Just my .02 cents. Regards, |
I agree. It is pretty bad when I see news like this.
Not that change is bad, but some of this is down right stupid. :( :( :( |
And it keeps on coming . Heard on Fox News this morning that a FL University in S FL has banned all Christmas displays , celebrations etc from its campus .... says someone complained . Wonder what would happen if there was a massive observance of CHRISTMAS on campus ??
I guess we have brought this on ourselves in a way . The good folks have been too busy working and providing for their families to get involved in a lot of these things and have let a minority run things ... a minority that has a distinct agenda that is on the radical side . Just my rant for today as I was one of those who brought his family up to be self sufficient , go to Church etc . and not ask Government for anything . |
