Ingram's Flat Spot On: NASCAR Factories out?
2008-12-09 By Jonathan Ingram - Motorsport.com " If America's manufacturers have to change their role as major players in NASCAR, it wouldn't be the first time. It's happened twice before in the 60-year history of the sanctioning body, but never for financial reasons. " http://www.motorsport.com/news/article.asp?ID=315474 |
Don,
I remember Ned Jarrett talking about when Ford pulled out of racing the last time. He said he had qualified his car and some guy in the garage told him he had a phone call so he went over to the pay phone and it was a Ford Executive who told him to take the car out of the race and they told all the other Ford drivers to do the same. Of course these were Ford sponsored cars. He said that was when he decided to take a course in broadcasting as he thought, if my career can be ended in a minute by a call on a pay phone I need something else to fall back on. Ron |
