California Could Run Out Of Money
Not good news for our unable to pass a budget bunch. It would really be something if they didn't have money for their big pay checks.

The California State Politicians should NOT be paid their extravagant salaries unless the State Budget is on time, and NOT in deficit.
Also, there should be NO State Salary over $100,000 total. NO state-paid gasoline charges. In low-fund times, State Welfare is the first to be cut. This short list is just for starters! |
They will probably come up with some way to justify suing the federal government to come up with the money. My guess says they will decide that the feds need to reimburse them for the cost of federal regulations or some such nonsense...
|
They will do what most politicians do and that is take some sort of short term measures that will keep the wheels from falling off until it is someone else's problem. Few politicians ever do what is really right. They do whatever they have to do to get elected, then re-elected. Then they quit and collect a pension or a soft job with someone they "helped" while they were in office.
I'm sorry about being so cynical, but 99% of politicians have given the rest a bad name.:mad::mad: Wayne |
I hear that most states are having money problems.
Hell the whole nation is having a money problem. I heard movie stars are having to buy their own food.  |

They should sue the federal government for the money the state spends on services to illegal aliens. The Feds are supposed to protect our borders, but since they fail to do so the Feds should pony up some money. We actually passed a bill here years ago to cut off services (except emergency) to illegal aliens, and it was overturned by a judge. The people's voice once again was silenced. My wife left a good paying job at a CPA firm to work for the state a few years ago in exchange for retirement and job security. If the state thinks they are going to issue IOU's to the educated employee's (she is a senior auditor) that work for the state they are going to lose a lot of people. They are revenue generating, so it should be interesting to see what our dumbass governer does. |
With all due respect Ron, who (that does not live in California) cares? Here we have a "blue" state enacting freakish legislation (bye on the gay marriage thing) that the rest of the country ends up (having to) adopting. Then the rest of the country starts running out of money just like them (trying to fund their stupid "imposed" legislation).
I care more about people than legislation. Mike |
Mike,
With California now controlling the Congress, Pelosi, Boxer, Fienstien and their group, others had better start watching what they do out here as it is going to start really affecting your states. Anything the people vote on out here, one of their paid judges throws out as illegal. I don't think the people of this state have any power any more to even vote one of the crooks out of office. So look at it as kind of like the Hitler starting. Let it go for now and then soon it is to late and all states are trying to meet the California laws. Ron :) |
Ron...do you realize you're responding to someone from Alabama? :p

as wrong as it may be, as California goes... so goes the rest of the nation. (one could add NY, but I don't think they have that sort of pull anymore, otherwise Hillary would have won) |
:)
Jamo, Yes I noticed that and then he wound up saying basically what I said that the other states would end up with our laws. I think all of us care more about the people than legislation. Edit: Mike, after saying (Who Cares ) you then went on to state my point very well. [ Here we have a "blue" state enacting freakish legislation (bye on the gay marriage thing) that the rest of the country ends up (having to) adopting.] Thanks for wording it better than I did. Ron :o |
Having lived in the Great Red State for too many years, this is just another case of poor budgeting and attacking areas like infrastructure or schools rather then attack some of the fruitless spending on social programs, check http://www.ebudget.ca.gov/Revised/agencies.html for the details of yelling wolf yet again. They'll cut 2-5% out of the liberal budgets but will go much steeper on public safety. Aw, to be free of that states political BS. I feel for the good people who have time and time again voted for change and then have some super liberal judge overturn the people again (anyone recall the Prop. 187 fiasco???). Oh well, again we all wait and fear that California will fall off the map and Nevadans will have beach front property:LOL:

Folks outside of California may not realize it, but the Govenator's top priority since he took office finally got passed by the voters...gerrymandering will be going away over time. No longer will we have these weird shaped districts redrawn every ten years when the census takes place to provide safe districts for either party or the incumbents. Whether it ends up being more Democrats or Republicans in Sacramento doesn't matter...the representatives will now have to answer to their districts rather than political leaders.
Folks hardly noticed since it was a Presidential election, but this is a drastic change in the way this State will be governed in the future. |
