Never Thought I Would See This in CA
Local Ford dealer is advertising a new Shelby GT500 for $2,000 under MSRP. Another larger dealer seems to have a gaggle of GT500s as well sitting in front of the dealership.
Not surprising given the current state of things, but when you see this happening in California (land of huge markups), somehow have got to believe it is happening elsewhere as well. |
I don't know where you are in California, but up here in Redding we have already had two dealerships that were here for over 40 years go out of business and the others are on the verge. Huge stocks of new cars and trucks and no buyers. I was talking to a salesman at Ford and he said no one is even coming in and looking seriously right now. Red Bluff Ford said they had to get rid of 200 new cars and trucks to get their inventory down to around 200 and they just aren't selling. Not a good time to be running a car dealership around here.

Based on what I've seen in local newspaper advertising here in Lake Havasu City and in Pheonix, AZ,......prices are still too high to entice folks to take a chance.
I know back when Ford changed from the old style F-150 pickups to the current body styles..they were giving the old ones away at $8'000. to $10'000 off sticker prices. That was a simple straight forward approach with no gimmicks. I think they need to try harder, ..after all who's doin the bailin out here. Car Dealers Suck and so do their respective sales personnel. Give it time.
There are several options open right now. People with means will be able to state their price in the middle of 09. JMHO :D :D |
Why on earth would anyone buy a new ford mustang, especially the way overpriced Gt's, when you could get the same car used in two years for 1/3 the price?
 I never figured that one out. |
