The 'liberal' party of Jeffersons days did evolve into the GOP party, but the GOP then evolved into ...something else... and it ain't good. They were taken over by neo-cons and religious nuts. I've read a lot of history, and I know they are not perfect but I would much rather have Ike or TR back in the White House than anybody in the past 40-50 years. That's where I'm at - a dead guy could do a better job than Clinton, Bush, McCain, or Obama!:JEKYLHYDE:LOL: Steve |

Would that be all together, or seperatley?:eek:.....i2f |
VRM, you are correct Bush grew government, way too much. But that is not a conservative principle, and conservatives are not happy with what he did nor what his father did with taxes. Limited gov is not touted by liberals, and in that respect Jefferson would align with conservatives.
Jefferson was a political enemy of Alexander Hamilton, who was the man that gave us the basics of our government. We had been a nation for several years but had no government, Hamilton more than any other man, gave that to us.Jefferson was sure he was ruining the young Republic as he served with Hamilton in Washington's first administration. By the way I would take another Reagan anytime. |
Razor,
Limited government IS touted by Liberals - the Classical kind. They are not the ones currently running/ruining the DNC. Limited government is also touted by Conservatives - Classical or Paleo. They are not the ones currently running/ruining the GOP, but a lot of them think they still are. The Neo Cons and the Neo Libs are really the ones ruining this country. Classical Libs (Jefferson) and Classical Cons (Hamilton) have a LOT more in common than either group has with the Neo types. |

All your posts should come with some sort of warning to the public in general.... |

And that warning should be "Make sure you can read".:rolleyes: |

Still - your posts should carry a warning to the general public, they border on insanity. Not that there is necessarily anything wrong with being insane - it's just that people should know you like we all know you - it's just good risk management. |

Well, isn't that special.
And some people are none of the above because they are insane. |

1. Almost double national debt from $6T to $10T. and 2. Increase spending by around 30% (and thats just from 2001 to 2004). That is the largest rate since Nixon (though Carter was only a couple of % lower)! Reagan also managed to increase the debt more than all the Presidents before him combined! While the Dems are the tax and spend party, the GOP is the borrow and spend party. Neither is good for us. |

I have to agree with VRM and others who cant stand the GOP OR the Dems...I think they are all in this together. The fact that a third-party cant even get a sniff from the people shows just how bad the situation is. |
