I have also punched her once in my sleep.

A month ago I was being attacked by a huge purple dino bird with a 8 foot wing span. I gave that dirty bird a forearm shiver that he/she will never forget. It took about 3 weeks for the black & blue arm to recover (mine, not the birds). I knocked over the night stand. The black & blue mark was about 5 inches in diameter.

:D

Warren,

I hate to break this to you but that wasn't a dream. Fred told you to not play rough with Frenchy and the Ho Sisters. Just wait until you try that with BB.

Ron

It always amazes me when discussing dreams how so much commonality exists. If you search the web you will find dream sites that discuss this.

Why do so many people dream about punching or shooting someone? The fact that one cannot through an effective punch is also amazing.

I do have one other strange dream. In this dream I can fly without the assistance of any machine. Just jump up and act almost like I am swimming. Again, I have heard others talk of this one.

That's the truth, Mike. I thought the inability to throw an effective punch, or run, might be related to a deep historic awareness of the useless muscles of a cold reptile.

The idea of flying as though one swims is perhaps related to swimming as a fish did. Perhaps flying as a bird is seated in a dim memory of swimming in all three axis instead of the earth-bound sentence of most critters.

It is said that all animals seem to have an inborn fear of overhead shadows, snakes and falling. All lil' critter fears of eons ago.

I sometimes have a dream of being on a tire swing we had as kids. It had a very long rope and would swing quite high. I dream I can keep going, gliding just above the treetops in our yard ...as long as I hold out my arms, legs and concentrate. But if I lose concentration, I fall.

Since railroading, I have occasional nightmares about stopping or an inablity to steer if I slip off the rail. Sometimes I can turn the train around and go back, but then I'm worried I'm going the wrong way. I've had a few nightmarish scares with real brake problems.

I imagine folks flying aircraft have fears of falling; and folks piloting boats have fears of driving underwater or being stuck in a doldrum at full power.

The flying part:
During a recent trip I saw a flock of partridge on the track just ahead. They flew up at the last minute but not soon enough, must have hit 4-5 of them.
The headlights flashed with an electric arc and went out. I was going about 50 mph and suddenly there was freaky pitch black so I set air to stop. I blew a crossing blind so I wouldn't get fired for it being missing on the tapes. As I slowed down, the conductor looked out front and only one out of 4 bulbs was broke. I gave him my flashlight and he found breakers to reset in the rear cabinets. My thought is; what if that happened in a car where both the headlights went at once. Lot more scary IMO.

I kept remembering this one on and off for several months , ( and not in a good way ) , but couldn`t figure out why . It was only after she passed on that I made the connection .
After that experience , I firmly believe that dreams can be precursors to some future event , but have no idea why .

Sorry about the loss of your wife. I agree that dreams can be precursors. I used to have a dream over and over for years that I developed some health problems (not a common one either), and years later I developed this health problem in real life. Really weird. Since my father died a few years ago I dream about him almost every night as well. This is also strange because I really don't sit around thinking about him, but he seems to always show up in my dreams. Not sure what that means?

I had a dream for the first time that I was swimming through the air just a few nights ago.

I had a similar dream last night. I was standing on a street corner when a car pulls up, two guys get out and start popping people. A guy that I work with has a pistol on him, so I grab it and sight on the first guy. I pull as hard as I possibly can on the trigger but I can't get the gun to fire. It's like pulling it with the safety on.

Since I have this dream so frequently, I'm sure there's something to it.

Any thoughts?

Dollars to donuts you were a molested Alter Boy when you were younger.

I sometimes have the strangest dreams about airports and planes. Landings are just plain weird. The airports are endless.

I have this one recurring dream about the first house my wife & I bought up in Swampscott (near Boston). She's a southern girl, never could convince her to stay. But I did like it there. In this dream I will go live there for 5 years, and then back in H'ville for 5 years. And on and on. The attic is really strange and mysterious... always a part of those dreams.

Its funny, when I first saw this thread, I did not take it seriously... but now, I keep remembering these strange recurring dreams.

Good post blykins. This is really good stuff.

Anybody have dreams about their favorite cars of their youth? I do.

How about dreams of teeth falling out? Ron?? :3DSMILE:

I sometimes have a dream that I am grating my teeth so hard that they are shattering and falling out in pieces as it happens. Another infrequent one is that I am free falling..... Freeky

Todd, I'll take your money on that one. Never was an alter boy and never was molested.

Since it's a recurring dream, and the content is more or less the same, I would say that this is some theme that your mind is grappling with during the day, unconsciously perhaps. I mean, it doesn't seem random because it's the same type of confrontation where you are immobilized for some reason.

Is there anything that you hadn't realized was bothering, some reason that you don't feel justified in confronting someone in your life about something?
