1932 Helicron...
This one-of-a-kind French automobile, the 1932 Helicron, was discovered in 2000 in a barn where it had been placed by the original owners in the late 1930s. It is driven by a propeller bolted directly to a 4 cylinder air-cooled engine.

Reminds me of a simple vehicle invention that would have great military use. :MECOOL: Basically it's just a giant hoop, about 500 feet in diameter, in which a standard vehicle drives inside the rim, like a built-in highway. The thing is, you could run over just about anything with it and it would just ride smoothly over the top. Cross-country over fences, small buildings in a single bound, gullies, highline wires, trains, you name it. It would be hard to shoot down. Mostly hole. **) I imagine, like the 1932 Helicron, it would need a push to get started. I'm thinking a large "T" stick with a least two guys. :3DSMILE: Actually, I was about 10 when I first thought this up. :JEKYLHYDE Wes ... |

One would think there would be plenty of poop-on, Fred. But from experience, I think the most notable visual effect might be feathers. There is a lot of wild game along the rail right-of-way. Birds, in particular, like the ballast, perhaps for gullet-gravel. Especially pheasants. The easiest way to avoid hitting these critters is by cutting the headlight, even during the day. Then hope for the best. Because of the huge locomotive nose, it's impossible to see if they escape (always at the last second). But if they don't, there is a hell of a flurry of feathers on the downwind side of the train, as seen in the mirrors. And probably a mist of poop-on. Wes ... |
So that's where Citroen stole all their ideas!!:JEKYLHYDE
The Brits must have had a hand in building that car too. Watching the video, I swear I saw a part fall off!**) Dan |
I can't imagine engine cooling being a problem.

The inventor of the Helicron did not rest on his laurels....
.......he went on to invent a wooden pogo-stick without a spring, a pocket-watch made out of chocolate and a sailboat powered by pig-flatulence! Quite a guy!
|
Well that makes sense, the fargin French invented front-wheel drive.
Looks like the prototype was just as lousy as the modern version. |
... and I thought my sidepipes were loud .....

Yabutt Ronbo......
....I uster have a Volkswagen Wabbit GTi onto which I levered Oettinger (Sp?) heads, which, aside from costing gobso' cash, surged the hp to over 134 (from c. 90) and boosted the torque mebbe 15 ft/lbs. I would smoke the Pirellis in first gear and chirp 'em in second--------but the REAL way to defeat traction problems when street-racing was to use REVERSE!!!!
Ar-ar-ar-ar. PS: Ye're right, only the Fwoggies could invent something so utterly bizarre!!!! |
