Crane Cams out of business ?

" Legendary camshaft company Crane Cams appears to have gone out of business this week.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal, is reporting the 56-year-old Daytona Beach, Fla., company has been shuttered and its workers laid off."

Where's Crane's bail out? At least they do something constructive (manufacture good products and employ people) unlike the bad loan homeowners.

They only employ around 200-250 people. Not big enough to give large under the table contributions to the politicians.:(

i sell items to a competitor of Crane. they were quite happy they closed the doors. Since being bought in 2006, Crane got caught quite a few times with dishonest pricing practices toward many of their wholesalers.

There always seems to be a story behind the story. In this case, it sounds like Mikronite killed Crane Cams more than the economic environment.

Hi all,

According to my source they have been bought once again and new management is forthcoming. Now, with that said, I don't know if that is true or just a smoke screen put up by the current owners to soften the blow of being out of a job. The workers were told they would be notified soon as to when and if to return to work.

The Daytona Beach News Journal/ MULLETT Wrapper is notorious for messing up the news so its hard to say which story is correct.
