Taliban Chief Vows "Amazing" Attack on Washington
NBC4 - Washington, D.C. DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan — The commander of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility Tuesday for a deadly assault on a Pakistani police academy and said the group was planning a terrorist attack on Washington that would "amaze" the world. Baitullah Mehsud, who has a $5 million bounty on his head from the U.S., said Monday's attack outside the eastern city of Lahore was in retaliation for U.S. missile strikes against militants along the Afghan border. "Soon we will launch an attack in Washington that will amaze everyone in the world," Mehsud told The Associated Press by phone. He provided no details. The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad declined to comment on the threat. Washington DC is invincible; there is no way you could possibly hope to damage it. And even if you did, the real power of the United States is because of the Internal Revenue Service. As long as their main headquarters at 1111 Constitution Avenue are safe, then your plan is doomed! (That's 1111 Constitution Avenue NW, near the Old Post Office.) (just kidding) _____ |

FWB - you have a great point.
I wonder how many of us given that Obama is basically eliminating a lot of W's policies relating to terrorist, feel safe now? Two places I would not work - D.C and at the new 1 World Trade Center. I cannot imagine a company renting/leasing space in the new building when it's finished in a few years - it's been hit twice and now they are even going to name it after one of the two towers that fall on 09/11. Now, logically, what are the chances of it being targeted again after the re-build? |
