President meets the Queen

So the President, accomplished international diplomat that he is, meets the Queen of England and gives her a gift from the United States

An Ipod!

I thought the news was doing an April Fools joke. I thought after the fiasco with the CD's and the Prime minister that someone in this fool's posse would KNOW they had to do better. But no!

An Ipod!

Didn't we used to have a State Department? Didn't they have Directors of Protocol? Is that now the frontal lobotomy dept.?

An Ipod!

I am deeply embarrassed for our Nation.
Once the most important nation on the globe,
now the impotent laughing stock of the world.
Bush was sometimes clownish, this idiot president IS a clown.

I think he did pretty good. He got through it without grabing the Queen's a$$ once.
He was looking though.

Balance_Point 04-01-2009 08:57 PM

iPod is all we can afford after all the $ he's spent.

Balance_Point 04-01-2009 09:03 PM

Maybe he should have saved even more and gotten her a nice card instead. After all it is the thought that counts!

Buzz 04-02-2009 05:48 AM

Well, what else do you buy for someone who already has everything else in the world except an iPod?

VRM 04-02-2009 06:50 AM

I hope he fired some people. If he thought that an Ipod was a good idea himself then he should be let go as well.

He must be consulting his kids on gifts for heads of state.

Something uniquely American.

Some pure Vermont maple syrup would have been more appropriate than an Ipod.

Or perhaps a handmade Quaker quilt.

I keep hoping for the day that I get to trade gifts with the Queen and she decides to give me something uniquely British, like some pints of bitters, or maybe an Aston Martin (well, Ford does not own them anymore:p).

Sorry Buzz but that arguement won't hold water. The morning paper here reported that Her Majesty already had an Ipod given to her by one of her grand sons. :p:LOL::eek:

Perhaps a model of the AC Cobra with an Official Shelby 427 engine ( Shelby Cobra)might have been a more appropriate gift.

Something that demonstrated how America can always make anything better than anyone else on earth can. Maybe a Corvette might be a good one too.

The thing is, the queen already had an Ipod. That fact could have been googled.

392cobra 04-02-2009 08:56 AM

Obama is Ghetto Fabulous.

The original Cobras were built in England (AC was an English company), and the engines were installed in the US. A Cobra might be a better representation of what the US and England can do when working together.

so he met the queen of england? i didn't know elton john was entertaining guests.

Buzz 04-02-2009 12:09 PM

Hey, I could care less what OBambam decides to give the ol' skinflint as a present, but I'm sure there's some story behind the selection. Maybe it included recordings of his top ten all time greatest speeches. Famously stingy and cheap, the Queen may well have appreciated the thriftyness of the gesture; that is, after rifling through the package to see if the batteries were included or whether she got stiffed and has to buy her own.

Interesting contrast to how the Kennedys, Reagans, et al....

.....greeted the Queen. I especially liked his groping arm----ditto the First B*tch. Truly a class act. IPod-----Omigawd! Why not some sneakers or sompin'?! Krikeys.

No arguments, please.
