I am not sure if they are still doing this, but when I bought a Ridgid 18Volt 1/2" drill set the batteries had a lifetime guarantee. Home Depot bought Ridgid Tools awhile ago.
The batteries on my DeWalt have quit again and cost too much to replace again.

.....cost too much to replace....Exactly!, I have a makita and the batteries cost more than the entire setup.....

DeWalt is over rated for what you get. Yes they are great for that month or two when everything is working and the batteries are fresh. But then the batteries start to degrade just a little at a time until you are swapping batteries to screw up a single pannel.

Just my opinion on Dewalt and the three screw guns I purchased with their name on them.

I use both DeWalt and Makita, and they have both been great, but battery replacement is expensive.

I have used DeWalts for years and find the batteries last a lot longer when you keep them from freezing and high heat conditions.

I have a Makita 14 volt drill and both batteries are bad now and I can almost buy a new drill for what new batteries cost here. And mine is kept in the garage where it is never real cold or real hot.
