Mike,
I would actually like to see a bill that allows gay marriage/adoption while restricting abortion to a degree. I am pro-choice, but not pro-unlimited choice, and I certainly do not want to pay for abortions for welfare types who use it as birth control. I would be in favour of forced sterilisation for welfare types who have two kids/abortions and also for deadbeat dads.

I don't think saying that any parenting is better than none at all sounds awful. I think it makes perfect sense! Too many parents are doing a lousy job, and schools are not making things any better. All of the gays I know would do a much better job, though none are interested in being parents.

You might find this surprising, but I am actually in favour of faith based help with adoption, and I have no problem with whatever requirements they might have. People do all kinds of things to be able to qualify for adoption. Gays are already parenting - some of them may even be around the corner from you - look for people with 'roommates'. I would rather all of them be able to be honest about who they are - I tend to think that not being able to be honest with yourself tends to create more scaring.

I do not want gays to have any more rights than me or you, but I do not want them to have any less either. I would like to dismantle affirmative action as well, especially since I do not want somebody to decide that it also applies to gays, Muslims, illegal aliens, or blue people.

:D :D

Is this a 5 bagger yet?;)

It's kind of refreshing to not have some jackass call me gay, Muslim, or whatever for not supporting the same position that they do.

This is an amazingly polite conversation about a pretty polarising topic, and there were a couple of good points brought up I had not thought about. I may have just moved us on to an abortion topic - but we will see... Keep the popper warmed up and ready to go!!

Steve,

I thought you WERE a gay, muslim, liberal, swine-flu carrying wife beater?!?

Mike

392cobra 05-03-2009 10:26 PM

Can you imagine how bad it would be to be a Muslim with SWINE flu ? And gay on top of that.
I can't imagine being around long enough to spread it.

Jamo 05-03-2009 11:35 PM

Actually, I released CdC from his one-day suspension cuz I forgot to suspend Steve with him. :p

..Well, sometimes Steve, I think your smarter than thou "elitism" has to be caused by something. Tightly compressed balls can be the culprit.

See Mike - this is where you just don't get me...I'm no elite sort of person - I'm just a regular guy who happens to know more than you. About everything (except slack tuning);)

No worries Jamo. I hear that sort of thing happens when you start developing Old Timers disease. Allow me to remind you of the current status - I am 6.97 days into a week suspension, and CdC has only served 3 days of his, so he will need to be caught up.

BTW, Happy Birthday. Taurus, huh? I guess that answers the question about whether you are full of bull or not.;)

4 Bags. There is a nice mix of characters in this thread. You could do a nice paper with just the posts and their reaction.

Nope - and you don't either!;)
I don't really have much interest in replicas, regardless of how nice they might be. I'm too much of a history nut - I would love to have an original CSX (I'd like CSX3016, or maybe 2299), but it is just not within my means right now.

Steve

Ron61 05-04-2009 12:40 PM

:)

Oh heck Steve, go for it. By the time that you figure they are in your means we won't be allowed to drive cars any more.

Ron

What? And your sideline business/hobby is scale models of cars?

Yep. I would not call it much of a business though. It generates enough profit to go to Goodwood or Monterey and buy a few race books, but that is about it.
Replica Cobras have no history (that I am interested in) - models of a Cobra at a specific race at a specific point in time are as close as I am going to get to the real thing. To me it is almost like having a 3 dimensional photo. I have even managed to duplicate the SW on the Smiths instruments (which are about 3mm tall) - and you can read it if you have a loupe.

The fun part is that my anal-ness carries over into that sort of detail as well, and I have been involved in the restorations of a few cars - including a Ferrari whose chassis number I am not allowed to mention (but that was a Scuderia Serenissima team car:3DSMILE:).

You are being serious here? Expecting an inheritance? Who has to kick the bucket?

VRM 05-06-2009 09:29 AM

No inheritance - and certainly nothing big enough to cover the cost of a Daytona. I don't like to rule out the possibility, even though I think it is highly unlikely.
