GM Bankruptcy?

This nine week shutdown sure smells like GM is preparing for bankruptcy. It would be convenient for them to have a "fast track" (8 week?) bankruptcy and come out the otherside of the shut down a new company! Looks like the U.S. Treasury Dept. is willing to protect the UAW pension and healthcare benefits regardless of the outcome. Wonder if this will put Ford at a disadvantage? Getting paid 70% of your wage during the shut down ain't too bad, but you have to wonder what it will be like come Labor Day!

One disadvantage it could cause Ford is with parts suppliers. If GM does go through bankruptcy, then many of the parts suppliers will most likely either have to shut down or cut back a lot. The report from Ford was their last quarter was better than they expected and it also beat the Wall Street expectations too.

Foxnews has an artical about GM looking at cutting Pontiac and there is a chance none of the models will transfer over. I'd like to see the G8 and Solstice make it over (while killing the Saturn Sky...hell, just kill all of Saturn), other then that, Pontiac has been nothing but rental car material since the death of the Trans-am...and Saturn is a step below them.
