History Predicts Outcome

For those with an interest, do some research on a car called the Henry J to see what we can expect out of all of this. Parallels are kind of interesting.

Of course if you want to spend a bit more time, British Leyland story is also appropriate to consider.

Very good article on this in today's WSJ if interested.

Way back in my wild and feckless youth, I was involved in the automotive aftermarket. Around the late 70's, Detroit was really starting to feel the Jap car pinch. There was a story then that one of the Big 3 went out a bought a Toyota from a dealer. They took it in to their R&D dept and took it apart, piece by piece. After much study, they concluded that Toyota could not possibly build and sell a car that good. Even holding it in their hands, they decided it did not and could not exist.

So troubles with Management in Detroit is NOT a recent occurrence. Now, with the help of Gummit committees, that understand neither autos nor money, nor sales, nor marketing, nor manufacturing, they are SURE to succeed.

Way back in the 70's the G took over a famous whorehouse in Nevada and tried to run it (no joke). They went belly up (no pun intended, but funny none the less). If the G can't make a profit selling pu$$* or whiskey...
