First, thanks Jamo, as you might figure, I was rather irritated at Kelly.
There is a contract that states the amount. However, there is a attached sheet they point to that says they can change whatever they want ( basic legalese ). When I pressed for an answer, they claim the client believed the compensation was too high. I do not believe them. Yes, I currently am a contract senior engineer. I have designed parts for american cars for years. The intention of my post was to let anyone who might be at either end of dealings with Kelly ( employee and employer ) that they are dishonest. I have contracted a number of times and this is new to me. I am dealing with it. Detroit will have about 25% to 30% unemployment by the end of the year. The state has unemployment benifits set at 79 weeks and are asking for an extention to 104 weeks. The market looks poor at best, so being employed is one up. I'll have to deal with it. You would think that a new contract would be in order. "They have the attitiude." I do want to say that you all have made this shock more bearable. Humor is by far the best way to handle this. Thanks! :D |
Oh I wasn't commenting on his particular set of circumstances. I was speaking purely on generalized contract law. Most people think you can't modify a written contract orally and I was just clearing that up.;)
Edit -- I thought Jamo wrote a post right above mine, but I could just be going nuts. |
Patrick...I did write a post because I thought you were responding to mine with the cut/paste, but then I noticed you were responding to Fred, so I deleted it before anyone responded, but...then you obviously responded. Sorry bud...been in court for the past few days, so my brain's pretty much mush. ;)

Jamo, I know this is your field of expertise and I want to think you for your help.
I have marketable skills and will most likely just leave this position and design for someone else. More than anything, I just wanted to vent and let others know of Kelly's underhanded dealings. So, again...thanks! :D :D |
Blah, blah, blah
Why are you junking up this site with your personal stuff. It seems that you conveniently state your side and distort the other. You did or did not sign an agreement that states your pay can be changed. You lose all credibility when you a) tell half truths and b) forget to mention that this was a client led initiative to all of the staffing companies. Yes, that's right I work for Kelly too and they explained this very clearly.
I'm thankful to Kelly for finding me employment over the past 6 years and being upfront with the reasons they needed to reduce my pay. No, I'm not at all pleased that my pay was reduced but hundreds of thousands of employees across the country are being affected in a similar manner. So, either tell the whole truth or............:::LOL: |

Your response is similar to your user name. You're here to stir it up and not a client "saving money". You represent no one accept as your name applies.

...and it's "except" not "accept" so you lose points for execution.

"Why am I junking up this site"? Well, these are my friends. This is the lounge. I was a little irritated your company broke one of the three basic rules of a employee/employer relationship. I didn't want any of my friends getting the "business" from you or your friends, so I posted a thread.
Wow, two posts and they both are on my thread. What are the odds? :D :D |
