Canadian trip

I'm planning a trip to Banff and Jasper National parks in Alberta Canada late August. Anyone have information/suggestions on where to stay? Any special places to visit? How much time I should plan at each park?

You have to spend a night at Lake Louise Loge. Drive the Columbia Ice Fields Parkway.

I have only been to the Banff area once. It is literally breath takingly (is that a word?) beautiful. Have fun visiting. By the way, you will not believe how many pictures you will take of mountains.

When are you coming ? Where are you coming from ? Western states or eastern ? Are you flying or driving ? As Wayne said it's beautiful and a ton of things to see and do depending on which direction and how your coming I will make some recommendations. Also, how long will you be staying ?

I'll be there 16 days starting August 22. I found some good websites by doing a search on Canadian Rockies. Also, found some books in the Barns and Noble Books website.

First of all you are going to miss the greatest outdoor show on earth the Calgary stampede July 3-12 and the Radium Hot Springs car show Sep 18-19. If you are driving in through Montana I would drive over the logans pass. It is amazing. Then I would drive up the 22X to Calgary as it has great sights and heritage. Lotsa things to do and see in Calgary. The Zoo and Heritage Park to name a couple. Then out to Banff where all the world class golfing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, restaraunts and accomodations begin all the way to Jasper. On the way to Jasper check out lake louise. Once at Jasper you have to see the Columbia ice fields. You should see all kinds of wildlife along the way.If you have any more specific ? feel free to ask and I will try and help as I live in Alberta and I can always ask my Grandpa more about Jasper because he worked for the Government there for many years.
Take Care
