Richard Petty To Lay Off People

Just saw this on the NASCAR site. I wonder just how long GM will continue their full support once the Govt. and Union takes over.

Petty was almost out of raceing before the season starteed anyway. The merger is what saved them so they could run this season. Most of the blame for this falls on NASCAR anyway for allowing 4 car teams and then fineing the heck out of the little guy for running an old worn out overbore motor and putting the little guy out if raceing.

Ya!..... NASCAR is gettin trimmed by the Revenuer's, along with the France family just keeps makin more unfair rules that are driving out the little guys that really made the sport. Next they will fine you if your not wearing NASCAR underwear, just think how much money they could take in at $25.00 per peson and $12.00 for fan fines.
On the other hand, I might want the job of inspecting.....I think there are a lot of women fans that might not conform.

Hummm! Bill

Nah, Nascar will be running strong.... they'll just be racing the stock Prius.

remember... the Greens are in office now. they hate the idea of a bunch of cars tearing up the ozone and burning fuel!

I was watching one of the NASCAR talk shows yesterday and they were talking abut what effect the GM mess may cause. Once the bankruptcy is settled and the Govt. and Union take over, will GM still put as much into NASCAR as they now do. They also talked about the dwindling attendance and lack of major sponsors. Many teams are now looking for several sponsors instead of one major one. Also TV ratings are down but they said they are firm through this season, but next years coverage may be altered. Not sure what they meant by that. Also some teams are talking of only running a partial schedule next year.

I got an idea... go back to stock car racing!! Don't have 4 cars in your garage which equals 2 dozen or more for the big teams, make the racing more interesting! Stop giving free passes, let the guys race back to the line, stop with the HUGE penalties for stupid things, or the very costly lap penalties for stupid pit errors. Back in the day if you made a pit error it meant you went to teh tail. Now, if you pit with 1mm of your tire on a white line, you lose a lap!! That is costly for a team! Stop penalizing people for "aggressive" driving. That is what makes the sport interesting! you don't ever see highlights of the guys finishing miles ahead of the competition as "great races!" You see the ones where 2 or 3 cars are bumping and bashing to the line, now those are great races!!! This is why I prefer dirt racing over asphault... it's just more interesting to watch!

In that case they will have 23 minute pit stops with mandatory breaks for the workers. And only 3 lug nuts will be required to be tightened.;)

Ron61 06-12-2009 06:41 AM

And the union will require that they employ two men per wheel to tighten the lug nuts twice.

Ron :D
