Study Ranks America’s Most Liberal and Conservative Cities
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=b57_1232751978 Rank City State Americas 25 Most Liberal Cities(in descending order) 1 Detroit Michigan 2 Gary Indiana 3 Berkeley California 4 Washington, D.C. Dist. of Columbia 5 Oakland California 6 Inglewood California 7 Newark New Jersey 8 Cambridge Massachusetts 9 San Francisco California 10 Flint Michigan 11 Cleveland Ohio 12 Hartford Connecticut 13 Paterson New Jersey 14 Baltimore Maryland 15 New Haven Connecticut 16 Seattle Washington 17 Chicago Illinois 18 Philadelphia Pennsylvania 19 Birmingham Alabama 20 St. Louis Missouri 21 New York New York 22 Providence Rhode Island 23 Minneapolis Minnesota 24 Boston Massachusetts 25 Buffalo New York Americas 25 Most Conservative Cities(in descending order) Rank City State 1 Provo Utah 2 Lubbock Texas 3 Abilene Texas 4 Hialeah Florida 5 Plano Texas 6 Colorado Springs Colorado 7 Gilbert Arizona 8 Bakersfield California 9 Lafayette Louisiana 10 Orange California 11 Escondido California 12 Allentown Pennsylvania 13 Mesa Arizona 14 Arlington Texas 15 Peoria Arizona 16 Cape Coral Florida 17 Garden Grove California 18 Simi Valley California 19 Corona California 20 Clearwater Florida 21 West Valley City Utah 22 Oklahoma City Oklahoma 23 Overland Park Kansas 24 Anchorage Alaska 25 Huntington Beach California _____ Interesting..... California had the most, "Most Liberal" (4) 3 north, 1 south And California had the most "Most Conservative" (7) all south Break up California in to Northern and Southern and the Southern part has a chance. I’d love to see crime rates, tax rates and the economic status of each city government. My bet is crime and taxes are high for the “liberal” cities and that they also are the most mismanaged economically. |
CdC,
Living just across the line from Overland Park I can tell you that it's not that way any more. |
I'm astounded that the "Bay area"didn't trounce all.
|
I have been saying for years that So.Cal. and No.Cal should be two different states. Arizona has more in common with So.Cal. than No.Cal does.
|
Bakersfield is a conservative place for sure, more ccw permits issued in Kern county than the rest of the state combined, always votes conservative, a good place to live. I just wish it wasn't so darn hot!!:MECOOL:
|
From what I have heard, Nor Cal would love to separate from So Cal (but can't because of population distribution), not because of political beliefs but rather because of water rights. Maybe Ron can set me right as this is just what I heard when I was visiting Nor Cal.
Wayne |
With influx of imigrants (legal and illegal), So Cal will not remain conservative.
|
Gordon,
We don't have the population of down there, but our last four Sheriffs have been very gun oriented and anyone that doesn't have a record and can pass the test can get a CCP here. I would check the latest figures before making this statement. more ccw permits issued in Kern county than the rest of the state combined, always votes conservative, a good place to live. Shasta County has a very high percentage of permit holders. Ron :) |

Ron61, I learned this in my last refresher class. The officer who spoke told us this, maybe he lied:rolleyes:
Here is an article from the local man in charge County state leader by far in concealed weapons permits Don't make any sudden movements. The guy sitting next to you may be carrying a gun, and you'd never know it. Kern County gives out more permits to carry concealed weapons than any other county in the state, and has led the state in citizens who like to pack heat for at least the last 10 years. Last year, 4,077 Kern County residents had the right to carry a hidden gun on them, according to the California Attorney General's office. Another Central Valley county, Fresno, came in a distant second, with 2,694 permits. While Kern County agencies do grant a lot of permits, the number hasn't really changed over the years. Between 3,500 and 4,300 residents have held the permits going back to 1992. Only in 1999 did the number dip to about 2,900 permits. "You have to remember that this is Kern County. It's always had more gun permits than in any other county in the state and it probably always will have more permits than any other county in the state," sheriff-elect Donny Youngblood said. "That's our culture. We believe in that." What we believe in is electing conservative, pro-Second Amendment sheriffs, according to sheriff's Cmdr. Matt Lee, who has been in charge of reviewing the concealed weapons permit applications for the Kern County Sheriff's Department for the last couple of years. ... But it's not like everyone who asks for one gets one, Lee said. "There are quite a few people who are denied," Lee said. "A (permit) is a privilege; it's not a right." ... |
:)
Gorden, I doubt if he lied. Just your population alone down there would give you an edge on us. I help out at the permit class from time to time and maybe it was we have a higher percentage of permits for the population. I just don't remember for sure but there is another class soon and I will try to find out. If things there are like here, every person that can buy and carry a gun is doing so. That is the only businesses we have around here that are doing well and they can't keep guns and ammunition in stock. And we do deny several as some of the people would be more dangerous to themselves with a gun than to any adversary. Ron :) |
Ron61, Same down here for Guns and Ammo, My son wanted to go shooting last week, could not find .40, .357 or .38, found some .22 and went plinking:D
|
Gordon,
Those calibers plus 45 and 9MM are almost impossible to find up here. I normally use the 147 grain police 9MM and I haven't been able to gt any for over 5 months now. Just as soon as they get some in, the first person there buys it all. I am afraid to go shoot now as I want to keep what ammo I have. Ron ;) |
