Cap and Trade Dementia
This article is well done and worth your time.....
Cap and Trade Dementia By Peter Ferrara on 7.1.09 @ 6:09AM http://spectator.org/archives/2009/0...Trade+Dementia Barack Obama called for House passage of the cap and trade tax bill last Friday by calling it a jobs bill. The bill is designed to raise the price of energy in the U.S. so much that it will reduce the use of fossil fuels by 17% by 2020 and by 83% by 2050. Sentencing the U.S. economy to high cost energy is not a particularly good strategy for creating jobs. The Charles River Associates, a Harvard based economics consulting firm, estimates a net loss of jobs from the bill of about 2.5 million each year. _____ Let's say Ferrara and Charles Rive Associates are off by 50% on the loss of jobs - only 1.25 million lost each year. Why of God's earth would America do this and do this now? Is someone out to destroy America? Obama and his Socialist Congress must be insane. The cap & trade legislation is not only based on junk "science", it will kill millions of jobs. If Obama and the Congressional Socialists are not insane, then they are deliberately trying to wreck capitalism, freedom, and the United States of America, with the goal of recreating the USSR here in the USA. Oh, it’s a “jobs bill” all right. It will be a “job” to try to figure out how to pay your bills! Just Damn! |
I know, I know. I'm probably boring you to death by going through the Cap and Trade bill with a fine tooth comb.
But today, let's talk about how it would direct money to the working poor in America. On page 1193, the bill would add a section to the Social Security Act on an "Energy Refund Program." Basically, those making no more than 150% of the poverty line, would get monthly cash payments from the government to offset the extra costs that are caused by this bill. In other words, as your energy bill goes up, the feds will help offset that increase. That would mean single individuals making about $17,000 a year and families of four with $33,000 in income would be eligible for energy payments. The bill would also tinker with the Earned Income Tax Credit, by doubling the EITC for those with no dependents, and include an inflation adjustment. That's on page 1209. Then there is an interesting section right after the EITC language, Sec. 433, "Protection of Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds." From the way I read it, the administrators of Medicare and Social Security would be able to tap into general revenues of the U.S. Government, if it is determined that the Cap and Trade bill has resulted in a reduction of revenues going into those two trust funds. Let's say that again. The chieftains of Medicare and Social Security would be able to lay claim to tax dollars to offset money that did NOT come into the trust funds because of a loss of jobs attributed to the Cap and Trade bill. The goal is to "place the Trust Fund in the same position at the end of such fiscal year as the position in which it would have been if such changes had not occurred." And by the way, this is one of those 20 sections in the bill where "such sums" as necessary would be authorized. So let's just review these three items: * Payments to those making up to 150% of the poverty line to offset the costs of the Cap & Trade bill * A doubling of the EITC for low income workers with no dependents who qualify for aid * An open-ended funding of Medicare and Social Security money to deal with job losses and lower tax revenues caused by Cap & Trade Have you looked through any of this bill yet? What are you waiting for? http://wsbradio.com/blogs/jamie_dupr...de-extras.html Geez, if this isn’t going to cause massive increases in the cost of living and job loss, why would you need these clauses? Seems like someone may by lying. I know, pretty shocking. I knew there had to be something in there that protected “poor people” from the new costs. So not only will the rest of us pay more for our energy use (and the trickle-down inflationary effect of the taxes) but we will also pay to keep the “poor people” from being impacted by this. Sweet... |

I have spent the past week reading that darn bill and it is going to not only increase taxes but will result in a lot more people losing homes and such if it is passed as it is with nothing stopping them from raising taxes at their whim. I have also e-mailed and called all of our Senators from this state and they don't even respond. When I call I get a flunky of course who could care less about anything as he has a high paying sit on his butt job. No one around here that I talk to about it seems to care. I have never seen so much stupidity and apathy in my life.

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That's not leadership. That's not going to happen." - Barack Hussein Obama Cap-and-trade refers to a system with emission limits that allows industries to barter with each other about who emits how much. Advocates refer to it as free enterprise, but there is nothing free about it - it would be a government-mandated, bureaucratic monstrosity. It hasn't worked to solve much of anything in Europe, and economist William Nordhaus of Yale fears it could cost trillions more to implement than whatever warming damage it might prevent. The main reason for the thing is that most of those discussing it do not call it a "tax," which is a word voters do not like. Meanwhile, rescue for an economy increasingly squeezed by the politics of warming alarmism is supposed to come in the form of "green jobs," only it won't. Various researchers are figuring out that we could lose more manufacturing and other jobs than we would gain, and that many of these green jobs as currently outlined would be non-productive and subsidized. - Jay Ambrose If we lose more manufacturing jobs to countries that refuse to put cap and trade restrictions upon themselves like China and India that will continue the wealth transfer from America to the Third World until our economy is so weaken that we are in fact the Third World. Why would anyone want this to happen? Just think if corporations could pay Third World wages without the instability of the Third World that would be the best of both worlds for them. So your government in cahoots with big business is going to cap wages and prosperity in America and trade American prosperity to the Third World until there is no discernable difference between the two worlds. Ergo they pay Third World wages in the safety and security of what was once the greatest and most prosperous economic system in the world. Stealing American wealth and that my friend is what cap and trade is all about. http://creatingorwellianworld-view-a....blogspot.com/ |
