What would you buy???

Right now my daily driver is an 03 Mustang GT that I have dressed up a bit both cosmetically and performance wise... However I am ready for a change. Obviously the Cobra is an attention getter but doesn't really make a very good daily driver. So I am looking for ideas for something I could buy/build that would make a good daily but be a real attention getter. I plan to do this after my back is done healing and some issues are closed related to it. Anyone have some ideas??? I would like to keep it under 6 figures if possible but am open to any ideas.. Thanks all.

Mike

Huh... how did this get over here in press releases... Admin please move...

rustyBob 07-12-2009 10:21 PM

O.F.M. hope you are healing well........the back problem will need to be considered in this build also..correct? how about a rat rod.....far less than six figures to build.....and nobody will ask if it is real or a kit.

thudmaster 07-12-2009 10:25 PM

Nor will they ask how much you have in it.

Hello Mike and welcome. I'm curious, if you don't think a Cobra is the right choice, why post here ?

Maybe go to the sister site, club hot rod. If you decide a Cobra is something you desire, we all have some good opinions and advise here for you. Take your time with your decision and plan well. ;)

I want to build one of these as a daily. I want the offroad version though.

I'm hoping for somehting a little closer to this, but with a soft top like a jeep. Probably do a Subaru WRX motor.

It's wild, it's fun, won't break the bank, will grab attention. Sounds like win win win! :D With the top, you could even hook it up with heat and A/C if you are using a motor that will run the compressor and stuff.

He already has one.

Kevin,
Mike has been here a long time and already has a Cobra. He is just asking about another daily driver.

Mike, You could check into a Tesla (sp?). Good for the enviroment. Although I think they are in the low to mid 6 figures.

Yes.. I already have a cobra. Even though I work for a decent company I would never take it to our neighborhood as it would never been seen again.. LOL

We are in the roughest auto theft city in the world as far as the local police tell me.

The tesla is an intriguing idea.

sdfletch 07-13-2009 08:27 AM

OFM,

How is the back? Did you get lawyered up?

onefastmustang 07-13-2009 09:48 AM

It is slowly healing and yes I got hooked up and so far quite happy with him. Hence my planning for some new wheels to offset all the pain I have been through. LOL.

rustyBob 07-13-2009 01:25 PM

If you work in a bad neighbor hood then a rat rod is perfect, they wont know how to steal it or they wouldn't want to be seen in public in it.LOL....people gather and stare at my Cobra but they wont get near my rat rod it scares the heck out of them and the ones that do get close ask ..how do you drive that thing its so low and loud.....it love it ...it makes people crazy and i also hear "what is it" and i just smile and away.

Considering your back, along with a healthy budget for "a good daily but be a real attention getter", either go the resto mod look on a 60's car or go totally modern with a supercharged '10 Cuda.

Even with one-off body panels you could build one of these for well under six figures. I think they're bad azz when done with the shaker hood. And the Challenger platform should be easier to get in and out of (again, considering your back issues).

If you get the Tesla, and it's stolen, you'll be able to find it around the corner. Seriously, there are so many options for somebody that lives in nice climate. I envy you just for asking the question. Here in Detroit, you need something that'll stand up to then salt, snow and pot holes. I'd have a classic for a daily if I could.
