Turned down by Salvation Army

I called the Salvation Army to donate a couch. I waited a few days for them to schedule a pickup date and waited most of the morning for them to arrive. When they got there, they looked at the couch and said thanks but no thanks.

I feel like a loser, the Salvation Army didn't want my old couch. It worked great for me just a week prior.

Don't they know if it was in great condition, I would not be donating it, I would be stretching out watching a baseball game!

Go figure....picky, picky, picky

Now I am donating it to the garbage. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle----oh hell just put it in a landfill.

That must have been one phuked up couch.

Back in 95 my mom who lived in Ct.,passed.I had 4 floors of "stuff" collected from '55 to 95(dad passed in '93).I called:

The Salvation Army
Goodwill
Amvets

NONE of them would come out. They said "Bring it down to our collection center"(all were 30+ miles away.I told them to take a flyin' phukin' leap.
Ordered a 40 yard roll-off bin the next day.ALL of it went in the trash

Turned down by the Salvation Army...

Wow that's bad, but it could be worse - I know a guy who was turned down by a hooker. Twice.

You KNEW that was coming.

I`ve had that problem with the Salvation Army center here several times . Habitat for Humanity gets my stuff now , but I don`t know how they will handle any hookers that aren`t wanted .

Sounds like you should have told them up front it was your porch couch.

Same story here. I bought two new recliners a few years ago and the old ones were in great shape. I also bought a larger TV and the old one was just 2 years old and in perfect shape. I called Salvation Army and a couple of other places and they all told me if I wanted to get rid of them to bring them into their collection places. It was just 30 miles but I wasn't gong to drive that far so I called my Church and talked to the priest. He came out that afternoon and had a couple of guys with a pick up and they took them and he told me there was an older man and woman that were very sick and they just had an old TV that barely worked and he had been trying to ind one with a remote control for them. A few days later I saw him drive in and he had this really nice note from the man and woman thanking me for the best TV they had ever owned. He also said the two recliners they sold for a few dollars within an hour after they got them in there, but I had told him to just give the TV to that couple so he did.

We upgraded to a King Sized bed from a Queen sized about 5 years ago. The Queen mattress and box spring was about 2 years old and in great shape. Salvation Army refused to take it because we did not include a receipt showing it was professionally cleaned within the last 2 days. They actually wanted us to spend money to give it away. Just ended up throwing it in the dumpster.

Same here Ron, I call the church and there are more than happy to have the stuff and always have someone in need of it, so it goes to a needy family............
