The way the supreme court is stacked in favor of the corporations, this will be set as president and that, will be judicial activism.

Pretty hard to restrict Corporations with these around:

b. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
c. Of, relating to, or characteristic of liberalism.
d. Liberal Of, designating, or characteristic of a political party founded on or associated with principles of social and political liberalism, especially in Great Britain, Canada, and the United States.

I find it hard to blame corporations for the fact that politicians will sell their integrity, their votes, and their country for money, or power, or prestige, or fame, or sex.
You want to stop corporate influence? JAIL people like Frank and Rangel. And many, many others! Take away their bribe earned funds, and lock them away for a long time. Cancel the Gold plated retirement and health care programs they voted for themselves. Make it more expensive in every way to be dishonest. Since we cannot instill HONOR in our politicians, instill FEAR!

Thats a good plan Dan, but I haven't got a clue what it has to do with being a liberal, conservative, middle of the road, Demo or Repub. Some things are just obvious.

Cobra Bill,
The perfect corporation will produce a product with as little cost as possible and sell for the maximum profit. A minimum cost option might be slave labour as Germany and Japan did in WW2. Government has the power and responsibility to prevent the corporation from doing things that run contrary to the values of that society.
As Dan said - our politicians are corrupt - the corporations are doing what they are designed to do. The regulators are not. I'd throw Dodd, Gramm, and a whole bunch of others in with Frank and Rangel.

A Conservative view of a Corporation would never allow it to become a "person." Same applies to ANIMALS, which some Liberals want to award "People Status" to animals too.
That is not to say that Progressives disguised as Conservatives wouldn't do likewise. A Politician may claim to be a Conservative, or a Liberal, or a Progressive, but in reality, they are all just politicians, first and foremost.

I understand your line of thought here, but it's not true, there has been a concerted effort to stack the deck on the supreme court with conservative judges since the late 70 and it is there intent to give corporations personhood, it's what justice Roberts was paid 2 million a year for when he was in privet practice working for a corporation. He and the other conservatives on the bench will push for it this year, the case has already been heard, we are waiting on a decision.

if you want to see a video clip about it, go to
www.colbertnation.com/the word/letfreedomkaching
not sure if this is right, I can't access it from work, if you go to the nation and search the video clip library, the episode was called let freedom ka ching
it aired on Tuesday Sept 15

Hey, oddly enough, they are a better source for news then the corporate news, the only news out there that is worth anything is either PBS or BBC. What we get for news from everyone else is crap, its infotainment not news.
