"Reagan came along with his tax cuts and it took so much away from the government etc .... ".
Check the facts , I did . When the tax rates were cut , the total tax receipts to the government increased , not decreased . Yes , the rates were reduced ... but the taxes collected actually increased by a considerable margin . Where the problem came from was that Congress ( Democrat and some Republicans ) actually spent $3 for every $1 that was collected . The problem was not the rate reduction ... it was the undisciplined , irresponsible spending by the morons in Congress ... just as it is today . They are totally incapable of living within their ( our ) means .

I never considered Clinton a liberal, he too went to the dark side! And yes there are lots of dems to blame as well, you would be hard pressed to find any politician that's not corrupt! What we have though, was country that leaned right for too long and shifted the tax burden on the middle class. And yes we had great stability when the Tax burden was on the rich, the reason the revenue went up was the largest increase is social security tax ever, and Reagan was using it as part of the general funds, just like he did with the teachers' pension in California.

Jamo 10-01-2009 05:52 PM

The failure of folks to understand you is your fault. You used the term "republican" rather than "conservative."

Instead of attempting to assplain how you're misunderstood, you should be asking our pardon for being too lazy to take the time to express yourself in an understandable manner.

You undercut the liberal view, and piss off the rest of us.

dblbarrel 10-01-2009 07:17 PM

Bobcat, you are correct.
Regan lowered the tax rates and eliminated tax shelters.
Thus stimulated the economy. Money went to more productive endeavors.
If I read my history correctly JFK also lowered taxes and had the same results.
Our current leader has added Govt jobs, not productive jobs, as Govt sucks the life out of the producers. We need more producers, not users.

As an aside As a life long WA resident,, Cobra bill you need to clean the moss out of your head, wake up and smell the Starbucks.:JEKYLHYDE

Grayson's the A-hole ! He doesn't have a problem with Abortion maybe that's where he got the DIE QUICKLY slogan? %/

Excaliber 10-01-2009 08:31 PM

Grayson's latest "foot in mouth" trouble is comparing our present health care to the holocaust. Man if a Repub said that I would be PISSED!

...but it's OK, 'cause this guys a Liberal and there pretty much always right. :)

Currently, one-third favors the legislation being considered (33 percent) and a slight majority (53 percent) opposes it. This compares to 38 percent favoring and 48 percent opposing the legislation two weeks ago (15-16 September 2009).
And so goes the main reason why the Democrats wanted to pass a Health Care Bill quickly. They know with each passing week the numbers get worse and worse as the American public finds out about this horrible step towards socialism. At 2 1/2 % per week we're only looking at a few more weeks before only one guy is standing there going ummm, ummm, ummm. **)

Here's the link to the poll:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009...-reform-grows/

From that same article I was very encouraged to see that the majority of Americans DO want and ARE willing to pay for a reform in Health Care. Such facts are to often purposely left out when a negative post is made condemning the Democratic party in general, health care reform in particular.

From the article:
Quote:

, a large majority (70 percent) is concerned that if Congress fails to pass health reform, many Americans will be left without insurance (41 percent very concerned and 29 percent somewhat concerned).
Quote:

A majority of Americans are also willing to pay more for their health insurance in order to provide insurance for all Americans (60 percent).
That helps bolster my faith that the MAJORITY of Americans not only want reform but are willing to pay for it out of their own pocket! It is also a clear rebuke of the constant negative diatribe we hear from many members here in the Lounge.

Simply put, the VAST majority of conservative posters on THIS web site are out of touch with how the typical and MAJORITY of American's feel about health care. This constant flow of negative talk is possibly inspired by: Personal fear (disguised as National fervor), insecurity at loosing the election (depression), desperation (what if we loose AGAIN?), and a dose of good old fashioned "red kneckism".

Those armed with the truth and a valid argument have nothing to hide and welcome a logical and reasonable discussion of the various issues.

Having grown up outside of Cleveland, and seeing the state of many cities through the 70's and early 80's like Chicago, New York, and where I now live, Jacksonville...

These cities were s**tholes pre-Reagan, and all were revitalized during the 80's and 90's.

Only problem with Reagan's policies was congress not sticking to them. Reagan built an economy so strong it took congress almost twenty years to to destroy it. If you think otherwise, watch Chrysler. They're dead next year... The re-deterioration of our major cities has just started, watch this over the next 10 years.

The US goverment has just maxed out it's credit cards and all the CEO's saleries combined can't pay for 1 week of the Fed's current spending. What Madoff did is petty theft compaired to what's happening/coming from the Fed.

The TRUTH? You can't handle the truth!!:3DSMILE:

The question was, How much more are you willing to spend on your health insurance so that everyone can have health insurance.

The total WAS 60%. YES to some degree, NO matter how small that degree might be/
The breakdown was:
OVER$1500?-------------------3%
$1500-------------------0%
$1000-------------------5%
$ 500-------------------17%
$ 100-------------------35%
$ 0---------------------33%
,,,,,6% don't know

So I read that as EIGHT PERCENT would to be willing to spend a significant amount of money so ALL could have health insurance. SIXTY-EIGHT PERCENT would be will to spend between NOTHING and ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS A YEAR to help all have health insurance.
You read that poll wearing rose colored glasses, seeing only what you wanted to see

No, as usual he distorted the truth in order to try to make us believe what he wanted to see.

68% are willing to do SOMETHING and most of those are willing to PAY something!

That's very encouraging, far different than the majority of posters HERE who won't even consider the options. The GOP has no game plan, I find that rather despicable.

I would hope the GOP offers SOMETHING positive, but virtually everything they do is a negative. You cannot build a society like that, it is a foundation of sand.

Once again nothing but distortions. Republicans have had a solution all along. It's called take care of it through the private sector. My daughter AND her husband lost their jobs a year ago. I paid $449 a month for Cobra for her until the program kicked in and then it went down to $149. That expires this month and it goes back up. After their unemployment ran out I've been paying their house payment and utilities. At least this way the money I'm paying goes straight to them instead of being stripped of one third by a bloated federal bureaucracy that will take that third and spend it somewhere else. I get no credits on my taxes for doing this and can't even claim them as dependents. So if you're so much in favor of this how about sending me some money and pitching in the right way. Through the private sector. Or are you only happy when you have your hand in someone else's pocket. Democrats even rob the dead.

That's it? THATS the GOP plan? That's what we have now, nothing "reforming" about it. Maintain the status quo?

Like I said, the GOP offers nothing...

39% NOTHING or don't know, 35% $100 dollars OR LESS per year to help out. That is 74% telling the Guv to 'go screw.' AND that is theoretical! Start actually charging the "willing" and watch their numbers fall off a cliff. You total desperation to find a positive spin is hilarious!:JEKYLHYDE
Desperate to the point off trying to TWIST a FOX poll.

Some of you guys are so blind you couldn't find your a$$ with both hands.

:) :)

cobra de capell 10-03-2009 11:43 AM

But, what if its you that is blind? Your opinions are rejected 99% of the time here - doesn't that indicate, at the very least, bubbles in the think tank?

BeanCounter 10-03-2009 12:49 PM

Ernie,

You guys are just too funny.

Dan40 10-03-2009 03:08 PM

Blind?
Somebody must be deaf too.
THE WANDERING TIME LINE OF HEALTH CARE "REFORM!"

Obama claims that our health care TREATMENT is woeful and far behind even some developing countries.
That dog don't hunt!

Then he claims Doctors and Hospitals are overcharging all of us.
That turkey can't fly!

Then he claims we MUST overhaul health care to cover the completely imaginary 45 million people that cannot get health care.
The nation gives him a big yawn on that lie.

Then he finds his villain Du jour in the rotten, cheating, unscrupulous, money-grubbing insurance companies. So "Health Care Reform," suddenly becomes, "Health INSURANCE reform!"
He and his misinformed and misinforming cronies are SHOCKED to find the nation wants TO KEEP the coverage they have!

So TODAY, obummer announces that passing health care will CURE the nations unemployment problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Desperation is now total and complete, and tragicomic!

Once he is dumped in '12, he stands to have a long career as a stand up bullsh!tter, er comic. [credit to Mel Brooks]

Excaliber 10-03-2009 03:14 PM

Wait,,,, who said anything about him being dumped in '12? Are you nuts? Of course he will win a second term. :)
