Thanks. Steve '' |

what do you mean "gone"?
as in: won't return emails? won't return phone calls? closed up shop? died? ...? |
Just gone........as far as this site is concerned. I've made other private inquiries to those who have been in contact with him in the past, who I know and respect personally, and they haven't come up with any info either.
It's likely because they've tried to get further info, and they haven't been successful either. Perhaps he just decided the size of the market for a DOT-legal, sticky, 15", very wide-tire, wasn't worth the development effort, just like Goodyear and everyone else. |
He got kidnapped by the

Guess who makes Mickey Thompson racing slicks............................................ ...............
Tireguy If he calls me or I get any additional info I will post it. He is making radial tires for Coker right now and I know it is quite an undertaking. Brent |
Then he should have posted ONE LINE here to say"Game over" or anything else he cared to.
After all, he used us to gauge interest in this product, found plenty of it, then APPARENTLY decided M/T and Coker would be more suitable ($) ventures. I, for one, am done begging for his info or product. Hoosiers forever. Not that he apparently cares. |
Great verbage. That should really help.
He is still trying to get the RFV under 15 lbs per tire. He posted that! Did you read it? I am guessing NOT! Did you also read where he is buying a tire uniformity machine (BIG $)to shave the tires round before shipment? Again, I am guessing NOT! I am sorry I ever contacted him or mounted and balanced 16 tires to try. I was just trying to help the Cobra community. There was NOTHING in it for me other than a good tire for the future when I needed it. If he does get it right thats GREAT if he does not then NOTHING LOST but my time. I have ALOT of time invested in it and I hope it works out. I admire him for not selling sub-par tires to us just for a quick buck. He could have sold hundreds of tires in the first week, but he did NOT. I am sorry the 10 seconds it took you to post was such a waste of your valuable time. I am sure flaming him will really help the cause. Brent |
The M/T's may be great for cruising, travelling to shows and similar uses. The suspensions on most rods and muscle cars do not invite vigorous driving. Has anyone taken a set through the twisties?

BB,
If you're paying attention, you'll notice my comments were NOT directed at your efforts or motives nor Tireguy's efforts or throughness. I, like 100's of other members read every one of the posts associated with this topic. Yes, I read his last post on 4-15, where he apologized for the delay while dealing with an unsuitable 30lb RFV. I also have complete respect for HIS ethic and expenditure in attempting to bring us (and all the Vintage guys of every stripe) a product. What you missed in my message is that many of us have clamored for INFORMATION, not necessarily a finished product. A lapse of 1 1/2 months without word has apparently led many members who cared, to make other tire replacement moves sooner rather than later. A line or two of progress every couple of weeks might have altered that situation and was all many of us posted for. So we're children. Yes, I stand by the inference that his silence lent the appearance of other important projects scuttling ours. You just provided info that is not so. After all, he's a business man and that would be a business decision. I also never implied YOU were obligated to report or update anything after starting the effort. I trust my point is now more clear. Finally, if my time were truly valuable, I would not have wasted it replying. The way I type, it takes much longer than 10 seconds to post. |

Me too..:D

Steve, the MT won't be available until fall...
|
I'll back away from the cutting edge on this one... I continue to be interested - and not discouraged - in Tire Guy's project. My impression is that he is working towards a final product that will optimize lateral grip and suitability for the varied road condions we encounter in daily use. I'm not yet pursuaded a tire for rods and muscle cars will have the same design objective.
Holding out for Tire Guy... |
Don't you think it wise to consider all............
|
Brent buddy,
I know you were the driving force in getting Tireguy interested in this project. For that we owe you. But, surely you can understand that total silence on the part of Tireguy would lead people to wonder. That was the problem........ He did interact here regularly at one point. That clearly led people to believe that he would continue to post updates. It would have been simple for him to just say........"I'm still working on it............I haven't lost interest, just busy." I'm still interested too. Communication is everything............ |
