Title help in MN for a kit car

Hi everyone. :)
I'm an Englishman now living in the deep depths of the frozen state they call Minnesnowta!

I'm not a cobra owner, but I am a kit car owner and was looking for some advice from other car building brethren.

I'm building what an Altra, which is now a defunct arm of Palatov Motorsports.http://www.palatov.com. The car has more than a passing resemblance to an Ariel Atom :)

I have a certificate of origin as well as a reasonable file of receipts for parts that have gone into the build.

I'm not looking for collectors plates, just the right to be allowed to get a vin (at the moment it has a kit vin on the frame) and insurance to drive it.

The car is all now ready. I've read some different stuff on here about registering a car in MN and have read the local DMV requirements.

Any hints or tips as to how I should do this? I've read on here that I can get temporary plates so I can drive the car to the inspection. Is that still true? How long do the temporary plates last for?

Thanks for any advice :)

This is my car (sorry - no cobra content)

Still needs paint but almost there!

Argh! My post has disappeared!

I have recently built an Altra kit car, a now ended arm of Palatov Motorsports.
It has more than a passing resemblance to an Ariel Atom.

Other than paint, which I will probably just wrap rather than paint due to the limited number of body panels, it's ready to go.

This is my build thread over on Mnhondas - it has a K20 engine.
My first Atomic Honda should be a doozie - MNHondas

I have a huge stack of receipts for it, a certificate of manufacture for the kit and I'm not concerned about whether I get classic plates or not. I would just like to get it on the road!

I know there are two forms I have to complete and then take it for inspection.
I've read on here that some people have been given temporary plates to take it in for inspection once they have been through the paperwork. Is that still the case? How long do the temporary plates last for?

Are there any things I can do to ease the process? Any suggestions please very welcome. I hope my first post appears again, as I'm sure I'm missing something's I mentioned last time and also the random photos I included from my build.

Anyway, if you are willing to take pity on a noncobra owner (but fellow kit car owner in MN) it would be very much appreciated!

Thanks :)
