New Image Coating ???
Has anyone in the Twin Cities used New Image Coating in Lino Lakes? I want to ceramic coat my headers and sidepipes, and was given their name via a reference from my painter. The reference was good, but I prefer to hear from someone who has had the work done on their own car.
The high temp powder coat that I had sprayed on originally has almost completely flaked off, and I don't want the same experience again. Thanks, Mark |

He did my sidepipes and headers last Summer. They came out great! I went with the almost-chrome (can't remember what it's called) look. I haven't run them yet so I can't speak to the durability, etc. but Mark spent a lot of time talking me through the product he uses and the process he follows and convinced me I would be satisfied. He does have a guaranty and will re-do them if you have any problems. I was able to drop them off on a Saturday and pick them up the following Saturday. Just a tip to look at. When having mine recoated locally (didn't want to ship to Jet Hot and risk damage). There was long delay with the local company in November because they only do the the ceramic coating when the humidity is above 70%. It apparently doesn't bond or stick well.
Having lived in MN for 7 years, unless they have a facility to produce that number, it would be tough getting there until June.....LOL! Just something for you to ask them about. |
Thanks Dwain. That's just what I was hoping to hear. I am going with the satin black finish for mine. The car is yellow with black stripes, and I think black sidepipes will look best.

P.S. What Dwain said about the willingness of the shop to re-coat as necessary is consistent with a reputable coating company. My guy did one 3 times, because he wasn't happy, and I didn't even ask him to.
I think the color you're referring to is what JetHot calls Sterling Silver, and that's what my guys did. Several of our club guys use them and I've seen some 5 yr. old ones that still look really good. A little aluminum polish, and they can look almost new again. |

True Dwain, black does look awesome too. But, mine were JetHot satin black, and faded over time. They were much tougher to keep looking good because you couldn't polish them.

I just picked up my ceramic coated sidepipes today. I dropped them off Monday. Hows that for quick service. They look great. I will be installing them this weekend. As soon as the weather hits 50 I will take them out for a test spin.

The warranty with Jet Hot is ONE recoat under warranty if they are not brand new/never been used. Then they charge about half price to recoat. I know this because mine are rusting for the second time after being coated by them in two years. $140 for just the pipes now.

great info guys since I have the same question,does anyone do a durable white coating ? if not I may just jet hot the headers and paint my side pipes.

I just ot done painting my side pipes, and am considering white for the the header tubes, as the two will connect inside the fenders. I was always told white is the way to go near the block due to heat reflectivity. |

jet hot gets about 275 for spipes,coastal coatings get 150. Why such a difference,is there any?(were talking high lustre ceramic)

I moved from Eagan to Rosemount last April. New Image charged me $250 for the sidepipes. If you get the chrome version, I believe it costs more due to the polishing required. I liked the fact that I could drop them off and pick them up locally. I've heard too many issues arise from damage during shipping. The number at New Image is 651-784-7055 in case you need it. Mark |
