Cobra book #4 from Trevor Legate on its way...
So it looks like our prolific Cobra writer, Mr. Trevor Legate, is publishing his fourth book in the spring of 2010 entitled AC Cobra: The Legacy.
No word yet on an ISBN number, but the other vital statistics are: publisher, Touchstone Books/Collier International; hardcover binding; 160 pp. and 120 photos. |

New book!
Excellent news!
I do hope he will include information about the Corvace and the Flip Top... Both are part of the history we like reading about. |
You send the info, I'll bung it in :-)
Actually someone has seriously jumped the gun here as Collier is our international rights agent and the pdf is merely a brief overview to be sent to other 'interested' publishers. Hardly any of that is relevant now. To cut a long story short, I've written about 50% of the book and have enough photos to make it do-able but naturally I'm always looking for more and shooting more. If things go to our current plan I hope to finish my part of it by the summmer, the rest of the year will be finishing stuff and producing layouts, then to the printers (about 3 months or so) so maybe ready this time next year give or take a month or twelve? There was some thought about reprinting my last book but I suggested a smaller, lighter, cheaper, updated book might be more interesting, hence this latest meisterwerk. So if anyone out there has any wonderful unseen, unpublished, copyright free period snaps of Cobras in the 60s, you know where to send 'em...... ;-) Or a shedload of spare $$$ so we can get it printed!!!! |
Trevor,
Sounds like a great project! I don't have any photos and likely little spare $$$ for printing (once my car is built) ... but I will definitely buy your book :), and I have no doubt many others here will do so as well. Let us know when it published! |
Trevor,
I see by your book title and table of contents that you have concluded that the Kirkham roadster is carrying on the genuine and real legacy of AC motorcars. I wonder what Alan thinks about that. ;) :JEKYLHYDE :D |
Yeah. I'm deeply worried.
It's certainly not for me to say who is or is not carrying on the 'genuine real legacy' if indeed anyone is (!) but shall we say that in my opinion some companies are a little more sympatico when it comes to such issues, rather than merely chasing a fast buck (or busy disappearing up their own exhaust) Actually only AC can 'continue' as AC, Shelby carries on as Shelby while Kirkham build a bloody nice product. Each to their own. ( ignore the 'chapters' list as it's changed more than once....that's an old synopsis!) |
Trevor .... I have a bunch of Cobra photos taken in the mid 60`s to 1970 in my galley by a friend of mine .... and have all the originals prints . Unfortunately , no negatives . Look through them and see if any interest you .

So, it has been over a year, what's the latest target date for availability? |
Hi Lite
Many thanks for the info and of course this is of interest. However, as has been posted elsewhere, the next book will be on hold for a while as there are other Shelby & Cobra-related books nearing publication, plus I need to find a co-publisher to make any project financially viable. Due to their other commitments, my book is kinda on hold and subject to change. best regards Trevor |
