Good Run
Hello All:
Hope everyone got out this weekend and spun' some tires. Wifey and I took a blast north which turned out to be a pretty decent ride. I'm sure I'm not telling some anything new, but the Mohawk Trail (Rt. 2) in up-state Mass is an awesome ride. Lot's of winding, well paved roads with incredible views. There's even a cool restaurant around the sharpest bend that had ample parking for a "group run". http://www.thegoldeneaglerestaurant.com/index.html From central CT we headed up 91, got off in Greenfield, MA, across Rt 2 then down Rt 7 to 44. By then it was time to open up so we hit Rt 8 back to 84/691. Even with our lengthy lunch at the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, MA(over priced and over rated) the whole trip was about 6 hrs. With the Mass Pike as a nice opt in/out location for some, maybe would make a possible choice for the annual Fall Foliage Run?? Check it out yourself if you have a chance. :MECOOL: |
I used to work at the Hospital in North Adams.
That is a great ride. The hair pin turn at the restraunt can be a bit nasty in the winter (not that the cobra will be on the road then) but a great ride for the fall. Mt. Greylock is a nice ride also in that area but I can not remember if the road up to it has any speed bumps or not. |
Yes, we do 2-3 rides through there each year. We try to end the foliage season with a lunch ride to the Golden Eagle in the fall. A great road. Another great ride to take through there is route 112 North off of the Mohawk Trail from just past the Roasters coffee shop. That turns into route 100 into Vermont soon after the turnoff. Not a long ride and route 100 is typically voted one of the top 5 driver's roads in the US.
