LRP ALMS July 23-24 2010

Anyone getting out to the races this weekend? Earlier in the season they ran these cars and it was some fantastic racing. If you've never gone out to Lime Rock for some racing it is a shame  such a gem in our region.

Vintage Motorsports will be displaying on the Midway. Stop in and say hello, maybe buy Cbreez a T-Shirt? http://www.vintage-motorsports.com/store/

Bob In Ct 07-20-2010 06:35 PM

Saturday is $70.00! There may still be tickets at AAA for $51.00.

Veterans and their immediate family get in at no cost.

Never have been there, are you bringing your car. If you are, then I know there is safe parking for the Cobra...lol
What is the deal if you are a veteran, is this any veteran from any era, or just war vets? Also, what proof do you need, I have been out of the Navy for 32 years now, I don't have much stuff left!
What time does it start?

Bob In Ct 07-22-2010 07:23 AM

Track opens at 8:00, racing starts at 9:00, continues until 6:00.

What time are you going? Do you and others want to hook up for the cruise. i think you are going pretty close to my house in Southbury

Bob In Ct 07-22-2010 09:15 AM

Dave:
I won't be there ($70.00 for Saturday!). Friday it's the SK150 at Stafford Springs and Saturday it's the NEMA Midgets at Waterford (both $20.00).

That is too bad Bob, I went looking for you at the donut last week but I think you had already left, I also looked for your car and could not find it in the direction you had pointed at when I first saw you. Oh well, next time.
So is anybody else going and bringing their cobra, I would like to go up with a few people and get he good parking I have heard about. as I have said, I have never been there but here it is GREAT!
Anybody want to show me the ropes...lol!

TButtrick 07-22-2010 04:26 PM

Dave,

I'll be with Cobra. I normally shoot up RT8 to exit 38 for RT6/RT109 then through Litchfield up to The Rock. The night before, I'll be in the man cave installing new rear springs with a bottle of bourbon and a cigar so feel free to stop by Friday night for some "maintenance"

Thanks for the invite, I believe I am going to Waterford speed-bowl for the 1/4 mile drags tomorrow night unless it rains which they are saying will happen. What time are you do you think you will be going through Seymour, Exit 22? I could meet you, or you could get off at that exit and we could head up 47 thru Washington depot and up to the park. about one hour and 10 minutes from there. I live right on the way in Southbury, if you would like to put the car in the air(lift) in my man cave to check your previous days work on the shocks after a few miles got put on feel welcome!
Dave

David:
Change in plans - Friday is still Stafford Springs but Saturday I'll be at LRP (outside of Turn 1) since AAA still had discount tickets.

I will be there with team Black Swan Racing. Team principal and driver Tim Pappas is on old friend on mine. They have a great chance of winning their class and won the last two races. Not sure if I'm bringing to cobra though.

Lime Rock Press Release @ 6:00 PM :

" Yeah, so it drizzled for a lot of the day – but that made practice and qualifying really fun to watch. Every series or class with the exception of the Cooper Tire Prototype Lites championship (its qually is tomorrow a.m.) qualified in the afternoon, and for the big show – the ALMS Northeast Grand Prix – David Brabham in the Tequila Patron HPD ARX01c and Klaus Graf in the Porsche RS Spyder went at it hammer and tongs in the wet for pole.

When the exciting session – the rain would lighten, then fall harder, then stop, then start, goodness, the conditions were veeeery tricky -- came to its finish, Brabham edged Graf for pole position, putting in a :58.106 to Graf’s :58.746. The Lola Mazda of Guy Smith will start third, alongside the Lola Judd of Jonny Cocker.

Fastest in LMP Challenge (all prototypes are Oreca FLM09) was Christophe Bouchut (1:03.020), while the GT pole will be Patrick Long in his Porsche 911RSR (1:03.904). In GT Challenge (all cars Porsche 911 GT3 Cup), Jeroen Bleekemolen put up the best lap, a 1:08.129.

The very quick Formula Ford 2000 open-wheelers had two qualifiers – they have two races tomorrow – and the first session, for race one, saw Daniel Erickson nip Fabio Orsolon for pole in very slick conditions (1:08.211 to 1:08.828, respectively). In the second qualifier, Victor Carbone took pole over Orsolon. Local trackmaster Phil Lombardi, a Skip Barber instructor, will start seventh and fourth in the F2000 races.

Folks, the weather looks good for Saturday, so grab your cooler and lawn chairs and come on out tomorrow if you haven’t already purchased a ticket.

There will be photos from today on limerock.com and Facebook by 7:30 p.m. or so... There’s some really good stuff. "

Think Relatively Quickly – ok, Fast!

Is the weather turning sour on us?

Bob In Ct 07-23-2010 07:03 PM

Todd:

I'm meeting Dave at 9:00 at Dunky Donuts in Thomaston.

Bring the cooler, chair, sunscreen, hat and umbrella.

Bob

I have to take the pooch to the vet at 8:15 so I may be up there later. Have you seen the forecast?
