I was thinking of doing this drive for a combined Cobra/Austin-Healey event on 10/10 with a rain date of 10/11. This is supposed to be peak foliage and Columbus Day weekend. Any interest? https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/mass...Psg0GkY40FEJc0

Knowing its still British my guess is that you get wet, drafty and takes a little work to set up.
LOL Mine too, it also gets you wet, noisy and windblown with a max speed of 55mph. |
When we lived in MA we'd take drive up to Mt. Washington and stay the night at the old hotel there. That's the prime time for that area. Drove up the mountain one year, rode the cog train another.
One time we went to see The Old Man Of The Mountain but that broke off a while ago. |

That ad is always good for a laugh in the Healey community. It's a legit ad from the '60s, but even when they offered a convertible top and roll-up windows, none of that so-called weatherproofing was worth a damn. The Fiat 124 Spider i had in college, OTOH, was a whole different story. Top you could raise and lower with one hand, fantastic heater and defroster and a car I could drive all winter in Massachusetts with no problem, unless we talk about the rust. |

Tour moved to Saturday 10/10
Our motto this year should be "Semper Gumby" (Always Flexible). The good chance of rain tomorrow and cold temps on Thursday mean we are moving this ride to Saturday when it is supposed to be warm and sunny. Our tour leader, Bruce Fiske, has advised foliage is great and traffic shouldn't be too bad We will meet at his home at 260 Hardwick Rd, Petersham, MA 01366 at 10:30 am. From there, we'll tour around the Quabbin Reservoir making stops at Quabbin Park: https://www.mass.gov/locations/quabbin-reservoir and the Hardwick Winery for those who wish a bite to eat and a bottle of wine or two: https://www.hardwickwinery.com/ For more details on the tour route, go here: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/mass...Psg0GkY40FEJc0 and for a full map click here Take advantage of the opportunity to catch some beautiful scenery at the end of the driving season. Thanks for your patience and please let me know in advance if you're planning on coming. Masks and social distancing are required. PM me if you're coming. Happy now, Jeff? |
GREAT NEWS!
Time to rally the troops! Anyone game for the ride? I'll try to chat it up on text as well. Lets keep the thread going or start a new one? |
