Lake George NY July 9-11th

The Summer run is nearly 20 years old. For the last few years it had moved to the white mountains of NH. Well we're returning to Lake George. We will be at the Quality Inn. Folks arrive Friday and catch up with old & new friends. Saturday we we take a long cruise through the Adirondacks. All makes are welcome. Sunday it's breakfast, farewells and head for home. A great low key weekend. Drive or trailer we're not picky.

Great to see an event in the Adirondacks so close to home. Count me in!

Details? Area to park? Why not the Fort Wm Henry hotel? Who is sponsoring the run? Need to know when we do our summer planning in 2 weeks.

Thanks

Tim

This the place? If so, its just under 200 miles up.

A Cobra guy 05-20-2021 10:15 AM

Jeff, Yes, that's the place.

Tim,
I'm glad you found the post. I really wanted to include the VT crowd but couldn't find any contact info. Bill Blackwood & I are pulling this together. Why not the Fort? Last year they turned Bill away so he went across the street. The Quality in is directly across so you would be fine staying at the Fort. As it gets closer We'll figure out a cruise for Saturday. Any suggested destinations are welcome. Is there space for trailers?? Not that I'm aware of. so that segment may want to go to the Fort.

If people are trailering they will want to book at the Fort William Henry. They a large overflow parking lot with plenty of room for trailers and tow rigs.

Do we have an itinerary yet? Dates - times - activities ? The VT contingent is coming but we would like more info. Some of us are not planning to overnight.

A draft Itinerary:
Friday: Arrive at your chosen hotel. Diner will be at 6:00 at a local restaurant. I can only make a reservation for a confirmed head count. So text me if you would like to join the group. Saturday July 10th: Be gassed up and ready to go on a cruise by 9:30am. We will head out at 10:00 By 10:05 we WILL be gone. The exact gathering spot in LG will be announced with route details in the coming days. I am planning a 2 hour cruise to some sort of a lunch destination. It will have indoor plumbing for the ladies and gas nearby for the cars. After lunch we head back to LG. With some luck and planning there will be 2 routes back. A long twisty way back for those still wanting time enjoying the Adirondack roads and an express route for those who would preferer to get back to their rooms. Diner Saturday is unplanned so enjoy with your partner or get together with a few friends. Chatting poolside afterwards at the Quality Inn is an option. Sunday morning many of the long haulers will be gone at sunup. For those still around we could make the trip up Prospect Mountain for pictures. My cell # 603-438-0373
I hope to see you there.

Hi Harvey,

We home in the Adirondacks (Tupper Lake) for years and there is some great roads to drive on... like RT 28, RT 30 and RT 3 around India Lake, Long Lake, Cranberry Lake and Tupper Lake... probably betting you have driven them before. I will be away otherwise I would have jumped on this trip for my first road trip with ERA 829. Enjoy the drive....

Rob, we live in Northville, NY about a 2 hours south of Tupper Lake. We've been putting on some nice road trip miles this summer and will probably do a road trip to Tupper before the summer/fall is over. We'll definitely be up there for a kayaking trip (no Cobra, sorry) to Horseshoe Lake in the near future.
Harvey, if you need any help setting up the route, or doing a pre-run before the 10th please let me know, would be happy to help out if needed. I am about 30 miles west of LG.
We'll be in Lake George early on the 10th and looking forward to meeting some fellow Cobra owners.

More details on Saturdays cruise:

I will be there at 9:30. In our blue/white cobra with NH plate KOKAMO
Drivers meeting in the parking lot at 9:45
We will depart at 10:00 am sharp.
It is about 70 miles to the lunch stop where there will be gas nearby.
At about the 1.5 hour mark we will make a quick bathroom stop. (no gas station)
Lunch will be in Schroon Lake. Either at Pitkins in town or at Sticks & Stones a bit south of town. This will be dependent on the number of cars.
After lunch folks are free to find their way back to LG or head for home if they are local. The quick route back is to jump on 87 south. Those wishing to continue a scenic route can take Rt74 to Ticonderoga then head south along the lake on Rt 9N

John,
Please join us! I have wanted to meet you for some time. I recall articles in the old Kit Car mag. that detailed your build.

55312 07-11-2021 05:58 AM

Harvey and the North Country crew- I just wanted to thank you and the local guys who helped make this run really enjoyable. It made me realize how much we missed the Lake George events of old. Great Job and the rest of the Green Mountain Cobra guys are here to help if you make this an annual event.

Thanks again

Tim

Blackbart 07-13-2021 10:36 AM

Jeff, unfortunately I was unable to make the Run due to a mechanical malfunction on the way to Lake George, there are some great pictures of the 19 Cobra's that participated on the Upstate Cobra's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/398129913564479
