Looking for an independent builder...

I've been looking for a private or independent builder for almost a year in the New England area? I have some skill as a mechanic and had no problems doing the related stuff on my CMC kit car. But there are a few areas I don't want to learn, including: cutting fiberglas, installing body parts like: doors, windshield, trunk lid, hood, rollbar etc. I'd like to have someone who has done this before? I can pretty much handle everything else.

Does anyone have a line on a person, or persons in my/our area that would be interested? I don't want to mention names, but I've "tried" to contact 2. One in Mass & one in CT, who are somewhat prominent and one associated w/ F5. Lets just say, I didn't get the desired response....or ANY in one case.

At this point, I would even travel outside the New England area, to find a competent & reliable outfit. I understand the demand. But I don't understand being ignored. Thanks in advance, for any help you would offer. Ron

What have you purchased, if anything? If you haven't bought a kit yet you should just up it to a finished roller and get the benefit of the factory assembly knowing everything fits from the start. Getting someone to build it for you will probably cost more than just buying it that way.

I have an older CMC/Fiberfab kit I've already started. All the drivetrain components are installed as well as suspension and brakes. I'm staring at the finish work on the body. Then I'll wrap it up w/ interior, wiring & plumbing.

I'm NOT a body & paint guy... and not too proud to hand it off.

Ct Custom does paint and body on Cobras and Hot Rods.

I recommend as they did the paint and body on my ERA.

Hi John, thanks for your reply. Lubbock, Texas is little out of my range. I was hoping to have someone near the North East sector of the country. I'm in RI

I've heard good things about a NC outfit, but that may also be a little far for my convenience. When I retire in a year or so, it might not be as big an issue? But, I would like to get this bodywork done soon... as the rest is a piece of cake for me!
