Labor Day at Lime Rock - Photo
1 Attachment(s)
Hey Kids:
This guy showed up recently, it's Lime Rock last Labor Day, between turns 2 and 3. Bob |
Road & Track gave the Lime Rock event some number of pages in the current March 2004 issue starting on page 96. This is an event that all of us in New England should plan on attending, (With our Cars) in 2004.
Bob, did you have to somehow pre-register prior to attending. Or in other words, can you just show up with your Cobra and drive into the infield or was there some sort of pass you had to secure? Is there a fee? Tell us what the process was if you can. Thanks |
Guys,
This Car Show is actually the Sunday before Labor Day when NO RACING is the law of the land at LRP. The last two times I attended in a Cobra we were directed right on to the track where the show takes place. The non show people have to park up on the hill with the rest of the spectators. I don't remember if there was a fee for the show cars. Cranky |
That was the day I met you Bob. I have the yellow SPF. I think in that pic you are missing my car by 3 or 4 cars.
When I pulled up they shuffled me onto the track immediately, there was no preregistration. it was great! I must have idled past 50 cars waiting on line. I wanted to punch it, but I didnt want to get kicked out before I saw all of those awesome Bugattis. What a killer day. I'm sure I will be there again this year, see you then Bob. Dane PS: Red ,I dont remember paying anything. I probably filled out a small form upon arrival with info about the car. I couldnt believe how many cars were there waiting and how fast They got me onto the track and parked next to other Cobras. It was pretty cool. |
Blue:
That is great news that there was no rigorous pre-registration. We are thinking of having the Lime Rock event the focal point gathering for the New England Cobra Enthusiasts in 2004! It would be nice to draw as many Cobras as possible and the open nature of the event just adds favorably to that. Yes, those Bugattis were impressive. Also all those M1 BMW's were a trip! I have never seen so many M1's in one place at a time. However, I still think the original M1 wheels are just wrong looking. But thats just my taste. I do think I remember your yellow SPF! You were up the line from where Bob was. He was in there with some of the ERAs. Do you remember the dragging Cobra with the wheeley bars and the big blower? It too was yellow I think. (I am somewhat color challenged so it looked yellow to me). That car was rediculous for sure. The ground throbbed under food when he rolled in. |
The show costs about 5 or 10 bucks.
I often fantasize of getting everyone with a Cobra to start their engines at exactly the same time and letting the crowd on the main straighaway know where the horsepower is. If the weather is dry a lot of snakes show up. A couple of years ago there were 5 or 6 originals. Last year there were at least 2 big block ERAs in attendance. I know, since they were on either side of me. Bob |
