Ferry to Long Island for Drags, 8-7-04

Hey Kids:
Assuming dry weather, the wife and I will be taking the ferry from Bridgeport to L.I. on Saturday to join in the L.I. guys' trip to the Drags. We will taking the 7:30 boat, arriving at 8:45 in Port Jeff. From Port Jeff we will be heading to the Snakepit in Freeport. I think the Snake Line will be leaving Freeport around 11:00 for the Hamptons. I'm assuming the L.I guys will have will have their usual fine turnout.

If you plan on going, and taking the ferry, remember to have a plastic cover (Home Depot) for your car or you will not be getting on (ferry rules). If you're driving around, we will see you at the pit.

Saturday mornings at the Snakepit is always a good time. I'm sure you are welcome wheather you are racing or not (I'm not).

The summer is quickly going away as are local drag strips, so this may be the last time.

Let me know, Bob

Bob

Glad to see your making the trip, we believe Westhampton will be closing very soon, so this will be the last trip to the Drags on Long Island for a lot of us. Some of the guy's are racing and others are coming out for the drive.

Plastic Cover _

Here's how it was explained to me by a guy behind the desk at the Bridgeport info desk. A guy with a Porsche Carrera, with the top down, got a lot of water in his car when the sprinkler system on the boat falsely activated. I guess he sued. So now all convertables must have their tops up on the boat. I told the guy I didn't have a top. He said as long as it was covered.

He said plastic cover (Home Depot, $5.00) on the car was OK. So there you have it. Check their web site.

Bob thanks,

I guess my regular car cover would be OK, but will check.

Bob, thanks for all the excellent pictures. That's the bad part of racing- you don't get to take pictures of your own car. Typically I have to bribe my brother into coming to videotape or snap some photos. His fee always is "can I make a pass in your car?"
