Help-Aluminum intake plug
My engine builder put a plug into my aluminum intake for the water temp.gauge probe and cross treaded it,said thats how he found the old one,so instead of fixing it he just put the new one in,Please. Now it won't come out easily and i'm don't want to force it and crack it.Anybody got any ideas...About the intake that is,I've already drawn my own conclusions about the engine builder even tho the engine runs great

If it seals and doesn't present any other problems leave it. If doesn't seal then take it to a machine shop and let them cut it out and re-thread or get a new manifold.

I have to fix it,I have no temp. gauge

I think then you'll have to pull the intake to fix it. I wouldn't want to do any drilling while it's on the car,(shavings might get into water passages). Once off it's no big deal to repair.

I think I will take off the expansion tank and see if I could block any shavings there. It will come off with an impact wrench...but I might crack it.I really don't want to take off the intake, but If thats the only way.Everybody intitled to make mistakes but this was just dumb on the builders part.
