Need help: looking for car transport in New England
Hi guys-
I have a Cobra waiting for me down in Long Island- and it's getting just a little too freeking chilly to drive it up here to Vermont. Can any of you recommend a good car transport company on the East coast? I'm looking for enclosed trailer, and an experienced "snake handler." Thanks- -John |
DAS Auto shippers. They didn't ship my Cobra, but they did my open track Mustang convertible. From Utah to PA. They were prompt, great price and the car arrived perfectly (and ahead of schedule).

Carrier
i know a private carrier. He is not a corporation but he is in New Hampshire. He transports alot of Harleys and he also does autos.
I do not know referances but you can ask him a ton of questions for comfort level. He uses an enclosed trailer. He may be worth a call 603-893-5291. |
Rich Lacey of Rich's transport. Advertises on the forum. Can't say enough good things about him and he'll work with you.

Ditto on Rich. He delivered my car this weekend. He also mentioned he would be on the east coast by next weekend.

Where in VT are you located, and does your car have a top or tonneau cover installed???? I've been known to pick up and deliver Cobras on occasion..

Rich delivered mine to northern Maine. He was on time and everything in great condition.

Seriously though, thanks for the offer. It's not just the temperature that's a problem with driving it up here-- there's already salt on the roads and I really can't have any of that touching my baby! I really appreciate all the advice from the rest of you, too. -John |
John,
The only reason why I asked about the top or tonneau cover is because I've switched back to an open trailer. There are quite a few who can vouch for my services.........I generally do not drive other peoples cars unless they pay me extra for it. Bill S. |
Ahh... and here I was thinking you were trying to get some seat time... my apologies :)
I am going to go with enclosed though. -John |
Just a quick update:
Once again- thanks to you guys for all the info. I spoke with Rich and he is indeed on the East coast, but busy hauling the Kirkham SEMA show car around, so we weren't able to hook up. Tried DAS too, but the department that handled deliveries to Vermont (they have a whole department for that?) never returned my calls. Part of the price we pay for living up here in the boonies! Found a couple of other options too... like did you know FedEx delivers cars? Also an outfit called Horseless Carriage- they had a pretty good price but the schedule didn't work. Ended up booking with Intercity Lines - I'll let you guys know how I make out after the delivery. Thanks again... -John |
