Lime Rock Park: Sept 2 to 5 w/ Carroll Shelby
E-mail Press Release:
" The Rolex Vintage Festival Presented by BMW Will Entertain You in Many Ways On-track, in the air, on two wheels, or at an exhibit, the Rolex Vintage Festival Presented by BMW, Sept. 2-5, will certainly grab your attention this Labor Day weekend. Along with incomparable vintage and historic racing machines, this year's Rolex Vintage Festival will showcase an expanded presence for BMW motorcycle, including amazing performances by stunt rider Jean-Pierre Goy, an aerobatic air show, a revamped lineup for Sunday's car shows and museum-quality exhibits from Rolex and BMW. At its core, the Rolex Vintage Festival Presented by BMW still is one of the most unique and wide-ranging celebrations of sport car racing and the evolution of the automobile on the entire East Coast. The nine race groups will span the memorable pre-World War II classics, through the popular sports racing and GT cars of the late 1940s and 1950s to the more modern race cars of the 1960s and early '70s. This year, the Rolex Vintage Festival will honor Aston Martin as the featured marque. Automotive icon Carroll Shelby, who won the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans in an Aston Martin DBR1, and David Richards, the chairman of Prodrive, will be honored guests at the Rolex Vintage Festival. On Sunday, Sept. 4, the largest gathering of fine automobiles of the season will be displayed along Lime Rock's 2,400-foot straightaway, in pit lane and throughout Big Bend on a 'Sunday in the Park.' The Elite Concours Presented by Road & Track will feature Amazing Astons" to honor the featured marque Aston Martin, "Transports of Delight" (the great roadsters of the 20th Century) and elite Porsche, Corvette, Riley and Austin Healey cars. In addition, the 'Clubman's Choice,' which are cars selected by clubs that have car corrals at the Rolex Vintage Festival; the 'Pick of the Paddock,' which will be the 10 most important cars racing on Labor Day weekend; and motorcycles from the Classic American Iron RodeShow will be part of 'Sunday in the Park.' Lime Rock's traditional Vintage & Historic Car Show and the Show of Shelbys will display a vast array of foreign and domestic automobiles along with the great signature cars of Carroll Shelby, including Cobras GT 350s, 500s and more. Both Rolex and BMW will have special exhibits and demonstrations throughout the four-day event. Rolex will display its extraordinary Moments In Time exhibit, featuring noteworthy race cars, manufacturers and racing legends from the glory days of motorsports. And MINI, BMW Motorcycles and Rolls Royce will have their own displays and presence at the Rolex Vintage Festival. BMW's theme for the event will be the history of the 3 series as a street and race car with displays of models from the 1970s to the newest 2006 330i. There will also be two electrifying stunt demonstrations that will entertain fans of all ages. Aerobatic pilot Kirby Chambliss will perform on Monday and BMW motorcycle stunt rider Jean-Pierre Goy will do his heart-stopping show throughout the weekend. See why the Rolex Vintage Festival Presented by BMW is one of the premier events of its kind in the country. Don't miss your chance to see this amazing display of sports car racing history on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2-5, at Lime Rock Park. I'm about an hour away and plan on being at the show on Sunday. Is there an area where the Cobra replicars gather? As much as the show(s) has to offer....I'm also looking forward to other Cobra replicars i.e. kits, builders, owners. I'm new to the Cobra thing having just built one on a whim this past winter. I've heard that Lime Rock attracts quite a variety during this event.

I too plan to attend the show. Sounds like the show that is a must see. Weather permitting of course.

My dream is to have everybody there in a Cobra start them up and rev them up at noon (especially Bob S. in his ERA).
