6-17 Skips Breakfast

NE Group,

I still plan to go to Skips for the Monthly breakfast and ride. It also happens to fall on the FFR open house! Will there still be interest or should we make the breakfast on Sunday this month? Maybe the following week?

I also want to welcome Dave to come with his recent Contemporary purchase. What a CCX it is........

Thoughts about 6-17?
Jeff

Saturday is the only day that works for me. Sunday is Fathers day. When I picked the dates I knew there would be event conflicts but such is life.
A breakfast & drive is in no way ment to compete with the FF open house. I took my EM to last years open house and had a great time but this year I can only get away for the morning.

I'll be at Skips on the 17th knowing there will be very few FF guys there but hope to see a few Cobras in the parking lot.

The same problem comes up in July. Myself and hopefuly a few others will be in Lake George for the Summer Run. This is the one overnight Cobra event my wife & I do each year. It will be our 4th year and she realy looks forward to it.:D So I actualy hope I can convince a few of you NOT to show at the July breakfast because you will be at Lake George.:JEKYLHYDE

Collings foundation

Hey Guys, over the Fathers Day weekend there is a place to check out in Stow Ma. It's open to the public only that weekend, and they have a wonderful collection of Autos and planes. Also offering Biplane rides ($90 for 15 min.). Admittance is a donation for about $5.

A Cobra guy 06-05-2006 06:40 PM

Roger,
Details please. It sounds like a great destination only 20-30 minutes from Skips. I'll start posting on the New England club site as well as the FF site.

They have from the Brass cars up to a few INDYCARS, an IMSA Prototype, and a few planes on display and ALL ARE NOT ROPED OFF. They are located on Barton Rd. in Stow:http://www.collingsfoundation.org

Now that sounds like a must see.

So the schedule will be: Meet at Skips in Chelmsford at 8:00. Leave for Stow about 9 or 9:15
I will explore a secondary road route but we might just jump on 495.
Once we are at the event I think it's every man for himself as some may want to spend all day and others just an hour.
I know I'll stay as long as I can but need to be back home by 1:00.

I'll be bringing my 74 year old father with me (It is fathers day weekend after all) He planted the kit car seed with me long ago. In the 60's he built a car, a Devon body on a Triumph chassie.

Hope to see you all there!

Roger Cormier 06-07-2006 08:39 AM

And you guys will be blown away by his property! You drive down a narrow road that is lined with what were formally cottages, and there is a banner pointing to the driveway. As you drive on his land you will think you're entering a golf course!!!!!! The Carriage house, and museum building are out of this world!!!!!!!! This is the 3rd year I'm going(I live down the road).

Is this his Devin/Triumph, by any chance, or at least similar? I was ogling that car at the same time I was considering buying a Cobra! Truly gorgeous.

I'm in for the drive on the 17th, if I can get the beast to start! Last time it didnt start at all, just a horrid screeching noise from the starter motor, and engine no-turney... Gotta get going on finding that local mechanic, I hear it may stop raining someday soon. :p

A Cobra guy 06-09-2006 07:01 AM

Tim,
Yes that is the body that he used. His car was a good deal ruffer than that excelent example.

The Devin realy was a beautiful body that almost no one knows about.

Get that car fixed man!!! I thought SPF's were pretty reliable.

Tim,

Sounds like easy fix maybe starter?

I will have Dave, new CCX owner, coming too! His CCX is something to see. His gallery is bmw something it is easy to find. Sold off the GT350 replica for the BB CCX. Good swap in my opinion.

Look forward to seing you Harvey! Jeff

Thanks for the tip, but this thing isn't even going to Chelmsford, let alone NY. :) Might be worth a call to them to get their description of the ignition I have, the description I got from Portsmouth Ford sure sounded odd. Although I have another lead on a local mechanic, maybe this one will be the charm.
