SEMA Bill Update - ACT NOW OR IT WILL DIE

Just got this from the Sema Action Network:

URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT

Pro-Hobbyist Massachusetts Street Rod and Custom Vehicle Bill: Rep. Robert Deleo Needs to Hear From YOU!!!

SEMA model legislation (H.B. 2212) to create a vehicle registration classification for street rods and custom vehicles remains pending in the Massachusetts House Ways and Means Committee. It will die if no further action is taken. H.B. 2212 defines a street rod as an altered vehicle manufactured before 1949 and a custom as an altered vehicle at least 25 years old and manufactured after 1948. The bill allows kit cars and replica vehicles to be assigned a certificate of title bearing the same model year designation as the production vehicle they most closely resemble. With three weeks left in the legislative session, the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee Rep. Robert Deleo needs to hear from you now!

We Urge You to Contact Rep. Deleo by Phone or E-mail Immediately to Request His Support for H.B. 2212

State Representative Robert Deleo
Telephone: 617-722-2990
E-mail: Robert.DeLeo@state.ma.us

H.B. 2212 provides specific registration classes and license plates for street rods and customs.
H.B. 2212 exempts street rods and customs from emissions inspections.
H.B. 2212 only holds street rods and customs to the equipment standards specified by law during the model year listed on the title of the vehicle.
H.B. 2212 provides that a replica vehicle will be assigned the same model year designation as the production vehicle it most closely resembles.
H.B. 2212 permits street rods and custom vehicles to display blue dot taillights.
DON’T DELAY!!! Please e-mail a copy of your letter to Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org Forward a copy of this ALERT to all interested persons. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter!

If you live in MA you owe it to your future Cobra friends to support this thing or yourself should you move on to that Daytona Coupe or GT40 etc. It is always such a disappointment to hear these things die off. Don't let it get worse for you guys, once it is done it is done.

We have probably the same law enacted here about 3 years ago and it is a blessing for anyone that builds cars of any kind, not just Cobras. I urge everyone in that area to let your voice be known, the hassle you save may be your own.
