CT Council of Car Clubs: 4C's

Connecticut Council of Car Clubs, 4C's, was an active participant in the group effort to obtain the Composite Emissions Exemption in 2007. One of the projects in 2009 being worked on directly with the DMV is model year registration. Recently the 4C's has retained the lobbying services of Hughes and Cronin Public Affairs Strategy to assist with the 2009 legislative session. " The retention of these services for the 2009 legislative session will deplete the 4C's treasury balance " . If anyone wishes to join as an individual member ( $15 ) and possibly consider an additional donation, the membership form is on the web site. At the November 2008 meeting there were representatives from 18 CT car clubs

Just as an FYI, when researching the DMV records in 2007 for the General Assembly Transportation Committee testimony regarding Composite Emissions Exemption, there were approx 315 Composites registered in CT

If you do elect to join, please mention Club Cobra on the Membership Form

NOTE: Do not know why, but the site is not working, I will advise when it is corrected

Sean:

Thanks for the offer.

If your or anyone you know is involved in any activities with the RI Legislature, receiving " The Voice " might be of assistance. The Newsletter Editor includes the CT Legislative Report which covers topics such as Model Year Registration, Maximum $500 Property Tax Assessment for antique, rare , special interest vehicles, emissions controls, etc. While CT specific, the reports will provide an understanding on the approach being used by the 4C's , if these topics are relevant for RI

So what is the current law for buying a registered Cobra replica vehicle out of state, and going to register in CT? When I purchased mine in 2007 it was a nightmare. that is why I search for a long time to find a CT registrered car tio buy. I was in and out of MVD in 30 minutes with plate and new reg in hand!!!

A few summarized items from the 4C's Feb newsletter;

** " Over the next few weeks we will be introducing our bill to have composite vehicles registered as the year they most closely resemble. This will combat the problem with the new emission and engine control requirements on the DMV website effective 8-2008 "

" At the present time, we are not recommending the hobbyist contact their legislators regarding any bills being pursued by the 4C's "

** Sponsorship of the 4C's website has not been renewed, additional cost of $50/month, options are being reviewed

** Agreement with the lobbyist extends through the end of June. If the GA session is extended, additional lobbying fees of $1500/month

** Newsletter contains additional details and other items of interest

Due to the anticipated additional expenses, the 4C's would be very appreciative of any additional individual membership and consideration of donations.

Thanks to those that have supported the 4C's
