July 18th Drive to OCC in Newburgh, NY

Change of plans, but we have a greater pool of attendees with this one. And I've never been over to see the retail spectacle that the Orange County Choppers shop has become.

So we have plans for a drive to the OCC Charity car show on Saturday, July 18th, 2009. This is weather dependent and any canceling from the group drive perspective due to weather will be done here no later than 7am on Saturday morning.

Here are the details of the drive:

Newburgh is just across the border from CT (only 45 minutes from Danbury) and a very nice drive out from all points in CT. This event is also within reach
of our NY State, Northern NJ, and Eastern PA customers. I am hoping this will allow more owners to get involved.

The show on Saturday is for motorcycles and classic cars. While the event starts at 8am and ends around 5pm, our plans are to arrive in the 10am to 11am time frame and depart around 4pm with a stop at Marcus Dairy on the return trip. The details of the OCC show can be seen here: http://orangecountychoppers.com/occ/...rjuly2009.html

Here is the current itinerary for Saturday:

7:00am - 7:30am First Group Meeting at Vintage Motorsports, Wallingford, CT
8:00am - 9:00am Second Group Meeting at Marcus Dairy - 5 Sugar Hollow Rd, Danbury, CT
9:30am - 10:00am Third Group Meeting at TGIFriday's Parking Lot - 1251 Route 300, Newburgh, NY
10:30am Arrive at Orange County Choppers
4:00pm Depart Orange County Choppers
5:00pm Arrive Marcus Dairy for Saturday Night Cruise
7:00pm Depart Marcus Dairy

If you can join us, please send me an email to confirm. Also advise which checkpoint you will join up with us in the morning. I hope we can all go in as a group.

I will join in at some point, I live 10 minutes from OCC. I prefer to jump in at TGI Fridays in Newburgh. It would be fun to add to the Rumble as we enter the show!

Forecast looks perfect now. I think last night we suffered enough for the rest of the month.

There are some showers moving east now from Milford over to New Haven region. That is all that is on radar for 7am. We are still planning to go and running on a 30 min delay due to some surprise showers in the east.

Thank you Rick. I did not feel like loading the GT back on the trailer so I drove it from Danbury to the shop. I am simply amazed by the way that car hugs the road. It gets more cell phone camera action than even the Cobras. I was heading just north of Southbury on I-84 and one of the Vipers from the club made his way behind me.

We did a nice blast but I let off early since that car is tough to perceive the rear view, and there were some other mosquitoes that wanted to buzz around us. Big thumbs up from the Viper.

I wish we could get more involved in the GT ownership and also the group drives. It's a lot of worrying and planning to get anything together and the turnouts are weaker and weaker.

Had a great time and I am scorched from the sun.

Next event will not be a car show, it will be a strict drive with a 3 hour circle. Once our little red baron project is on the road.
