Carroll Shelby - Wife vs. Kids in WAR Over Auto Legend's Body

Death dredges up all matter of emotions in those around the deceased. For the fortunate, it brings up warm – if difficult – memories and a coming together of loved ones. However, it's all too common that a passing exposes old wounds and creates new ones among those left behind. Such appears to be the case with Carroll Shelby and his family.

What about all those appearances they made together since 2010?

I know, as time goes on, my memory fades but I thought I saw Carroll & Cleo pictured many times together at events since 2010. Even in the huge Rinsey Mills biography (the authorized biography published in 2012) it implies everything was hunky dory and pictures them together. Would that be likely if Carroll had filed for annullment back in 2010? Also as regards the name issue, I have seen her name in print prior to marrying Shelby as two different names, but woman previously married can choose to use whatever previous husband's name they choose. Cleo Randell Roberts or something like that is one name I remember. Also in England they hyphenate names, I don't know who is entitled to do that, if it's only the upper classes or what, such as Anthony Armstrong-Jones. (In Spanish speaking countries, they also sometimes have the last name of the maternal side worked into the last name as well).

As far as "estranged" I heard only a couple months before his death that Cleo had removed the carpets from the Bel Air mansion and Shelby had slipped on the slick wood floor and broken or cracked his ribs afte rhe got up in the middle of the night, so their prescence together would mean they were living together in 2012. As far as her assets go, it's hard to believe Shelby would be worrying about if she had money, since he appeared to have plenty of his own.

I think what we are seeing is just the opening salvo in what could be a long drawn out epic battle...

His family suing each other over a body - that's Shakespearian level irony.

Reminds me of the family fight of baseball legend Ted Williams. Some wanted him cremated and others wanted him in a cryo-freezer.

Thats a shame but it was always going to have some drama attached to this sad tale.
Something that ive been purely wondering about is who actually owns Shelby American now, was CS really the sole owner, has he passed the business down to family or have a 3rd party the rights to it and CS was only fronting the sales of Cobras and go fast Mustangs?? Can someone shed some light on this please?

Trying to ascertain order of wives

You might be able to find out if you check what happened to Ginseng Forest, some company that was listed on the stock exchange. Back during the time of the Series 1, Shelby reportedly transferred Shelby American (or whatever his company was called back then) to that company and then later re-named Ginseng. I printed the press release as I found it below.
Also I was comparing a list I had of former spouses and I think I have one too many but I'd be curious to know if there's any more information on names. I added two marriages from a list composed by a historian who was there in the Fifties and Sixties in sports car racing and who can tell you what gear Gurney was in at which corner in each race so i trust his judgement.

-Jeanne (mother of his three children)
-Jan Harrison (TV star) married and divorced in Mexico early '60s just before the Cobra was born
-Sue Stafford of New Zealand-- a six week marriage
to get her into the country (ironically he employed her father Arnold as a race mechanic)
-- a lady named Sandy Wilson
-- an unknown marriage in the Eighties
--Lena Dahl - from Sweden, she died in a Jeep accident in 1997
--Cleo Randell Roberts, married 1997

If we replicate the body perhaps we can settle this dispute.

As sad as this is it does seem somewhat fitting. Kinda like poetic justice.

The tax return for 2010 says that there is over 6 mil in the foundation and Cleo is one of the directors.
The foundation at of the end of '09 had $6,840,273.00 in assets and gave away $251,550.00 so there is a lot of money that I sure hope is safe and sound.

Doesn't it seem odd that no one has mentioned whether Shelby had a Last Will and Testament clearly stating his intentions ? Hard to believe that someone of his stature did not have one, and that someone, like his lawyer, would surely know his official intent. Maybe that will be the next thing to surface......

Carroll Shelby's death

This feud reminds me of the family and alleged wife of James Brown. They put his casket in the basement of his house for several weeks.

Death brings out the best and worst in humanity.

The world is a better place because of Carroll Shelby.

I hope he is put to rest in peace soon.
