End to Superformance Coupe?

There is a Superformance Coupe at Barrett Jackson - Palm Beach this weekend that says," It is the final car in a limited run of 100 Coupes produced by Superformance."

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/event....asp?id=184089

What exactly to you make of this?

Is the Superformance Coupe limited to 100 units?

Please comment.

I am told by a very reliable source that SPF had thought about stopping production at 100, but are continuing due to response to the Road & Track article and customer demand. The auction materials had been printed prior to this decision being made. Hope that helps clear things up a bit...

I raised this question a short while ago after seeing the same words in an Advert in South africa.
There was NO conclusive answer to the discussion.

I think you mean, "What a BROCK!!!":D

The information I heard was that the 100 car production number is actually Barret-Jackson's definition of the moratorium Hi-Tech needs while delaying production to apply a few design and component changes. They expect to resume production in just a few months. After selling one for $250K I cannot imagine them taking the car off the market.....

I do kind of wish I would have bought one earlier though....

Just to stir the pot....it is nice to see SPF and Peter Brock get the recignition and value they so RICHLY deserve.....LOL

DavidNJ 04-01-2006 10:29 PM

How could anyone think any SPF is worth $270k? Are the buyer's there blind to the auto market place? For less than 1/2 that you could have the same car, a $15k custom paint job, an ITB version of the Roush motor, and invite Carroll Shelby to lunch.

Isn't that about what McCluskey charges for a complete aluminium replica?

gary osborne 04-01-2006 10:47 PM

David David David......

1st of all it was only 250K. I agree that 270K seems high.

2nd....of course the car is worth that much. After all, it is a Superformance.

Who says a Dusy is worth a million... other than the marketpace? The guy who bought it was not the only bidder. He secured it right at the end by bidding over a 247K bid...

Finally, why would anyone want to invite Shelby to lunch?

LOL

Is this world getting crazy or what?????

UFO,
Whatever you do, don't mention that there is a separate SCOF for Brock Coupe owners! Then they would really flip out!!! And then there's the extra super top secret SCOF2...

Uncle Fenster...LMFAO. :p

Mulv 04-15-2006 10:05 PM

Actually it was $270K, Barrett-Jackson charges another 8%.. Only a moron would pay that much, you can do that same car for about $100K. People are stupid.. look what they are paying for Chryslers and other mass produced, easily replicated cars...

SPF and Brock finally get the recognition they so "richly deserve"?????

NOT!

Frankly, 'notorius recognition' is not something I aspire to in my life. Being associated with the sale of this car for $270K is not something I personally would be proud of having done.

However, I WOULD be most happy to cash the check, if I was the seller, and would gladly pat the new buyer on the back and tell him what a fine deal he just made, etc etc and blah blah blah. Marketing at it's finest and highest level! PT Barnum would be proud!

...just my opinion, if the new owner likes the car and has the money, more power to him.

From a recent inquiry:

Don,

The Coupe's are still in production, and they will continue to be for quite some time. They are talking about narrowing the tunnell in the car to allow for more interior room, but that will only affect guys that are 6'5 and up. All of the Coupe's produced after the Shelby endorsement are going into the Shelby registry. I do not think there will be any exterior changes, if there are, they will be minimal, because they have to stay correct to the original cars.

Price of a SPF coupe?

I was told that the price of the Superformance coupes was going up soon - anyone have a price?

Coupe curious

I thought the auction commission came out of the bid price, not added to it? In other words, I thought the seller received the bid price, less the fees?
