Huntington beach 2014

So who all is going chime in and let us know.
I know it's a 2 1/2 month out but it will be here sooner than you think.
Our route for the last 2 years has been to meet up friday morning in south san jose at The Flames Restaurant 7170 Santa Teresa Blvd, San Jose, CA ‎ leaving at 8ish and then straight done 101.
Was thinking maybe go down hwy 1 from Montery to san luis obispo?????
any one have any thoughts on that? I know it will add another 1 1/2 to 2 hours but it is a nice drive. Chime in your thoughts.

This event is sponsored by Factory Five but they have opened it up to all manufacturers

For everyone wondering, The Huntington Beach Cruise-In started out as a FFR alternative to the annual Knotts Berry Farm Kit Car Show - originally intended to celebrate those that build FFR cars (reportedly because KBF politely told Dave his FFR's are winning too much), Dave Smith decided to open this event up to ALL makes of cars that are replica's of anything.

Last year, we had a Fierroarri, and in front of the Wilwood tent was an Interceptor (albeit, it was an original.) GT40 replica's, a bucket car, the 1920's Mercedes replica complete with chauffeur (otherwise known as the owner), and the usual FFR cars. Quite frankly, even if it's not a replica, they didn't turn any classic looking car away; hell, we even had a Ford GT come in the first year he decided to allow all replicas. Dave is just a car nut and appreciates even hot rods or restorations. Last year was also the FIRST time we got to park on Main St. and if you saw my pictures, you know that's where you want to park (near all the food!)

Bring what you want to this event; a Rat Rod, a Sunbeam Tiger, SPF, whatever.

Thanks Freddie

Hey Freddie!

Me and the misses want to go for sure! I'm probably going to wuss out and trailer the car down though, cause we are going to stay there for a while. May I still be included? :)

This year the event will take place on Main Street and the Pier plaza exclusively. FFR is bringing their big truck out to show off their new 818.

April SoCal weather, bikinis, live music and great people. What more could you ask for?

:)

Fast289 02-20-2014 04:33 PM

Thanks, I registered.

Dave

I'm tentatively planning on going - sounds fun!

I'll be wimping out and trailering the car though... not enough miles on it yet to trust that length of a drive.

Anybody know a good place to park the truck/trailer? It would be great if there's a decent hotel with a big enough lot. Suggestions?

Fast289 02-22-2014 08:27 AM

Hi. I am trailering my car over. The company I work for has a large trailer yard in Sante fe Springs CA. However, over the past year or so, there has been some vandalism. If I can't find a hotel that will let me park my trailer, I am gonna park in the yard. You are welcome to park your trailer, but I just want to let you know of some issues that happened.

Dave from Chandler.

BMEP & Fast289

Are you using on open trailer, like from Uhaul, or an enclosed trailer? I have neither and was looking for ideas to trailer mine down there. Like where to rent one from? Really want an enclosed trailer.

Thanks, Tom

Fast289 02-22-2014 10:17 AM

Mine is enclosed. I am not sure where to rent one. Sorry that I am not much help.

Dave

I've got an enclosed trailer, too. It's an 18' x 8.5' Haulmark that I bought used for $3,300 about 4 years ago. It's hard to find good used trailers but they do pop up now and then.

I've never heard of renting an enclosed trailer but I'd call some of the trailer places like Pac West to see if they have any ideas. There are a couple other trailer sales palces I've seen on the highway but I can't recall exactly where - probably on 99 between Sacramento and Modesto.

My wife and I went - had an awesome time!

We trailered the car, unloaded as soon as we got there and left the trailer parked until Sunday when we came home.

Here are some photos we took: Huntington Beach 2014
