I look for one year
 
I'm looking for the closest possible number to determine the year of registration, perhaps the month ? Can someone help me, looking at cars I think between the years 1978 - 1982.

A call to the California state DMV/MVS with the VIN will get you the date it was first registered.

the problem is that I have only this Identification Number, no VIN and that's too old for any information ...

The only thing I know, it is that the car ran in California, but in which year ??

Nobody has a car of the 80s and tell me if it is before or later ?? I'm in France ...... ;)

That identification number is the VIN. My car has the exact same tag. Call the DMV like Bill stated and give them that number.

I hope this helps. My car was registered in CA in 1984 and the VIN is 388577.
