The group will leave the Crossroads Center in Carmel (Rio Rd. & highway 1) at 10:00am Friday (the 3rd) morning stopping for a lunch buffet setup just for us at the Big Sur Lodge in the beautiful Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park at 11:00am or so (cost for this is about $18.00 each including tax & tip). From Big Sur we will head down the coast to Ragged Point (don’t be surprised if the price of fuel is $4.00 per gal.) approximately an hour down the coast, there could be a couple of added quick stops along this leg of the cruise as photo opportunities come up. Next will be a stop at Morro Rock in Morrow Bay for a group photo. We should be checking into the Sea Crest Hotel in Pismo Beach by 4:00pm or so to be able to freshen up and head out to dinner. Depending on the size of our group first choice will be the Cracked Crab in Pismo Beach which comes highly recomended by Larry Davi so it's got to be great (they can handle about 40 people if were there by 4:30) second choice is Jocko's in Nipomo by 5:30 at the latest (we did Jocko’s last year and it was great BBQ food). After dinner everyone will be on their own the rest of the evening. For Saturday we have two options: One group will head out for a day in Solvang while the other group heads out to the Pismo Sand Dunes for a day in the sand and surf on quads. Breakfast Saturday morning everyone can eat at their leisure meeting back in the hotel parking lot and ready to leave for Solvang or the Pismo Dunes by 9:00am. There is a Marie Calendars restaurant next to the hotel along with a few other restaurants near by. Last year Len (Hula Master) worked out a fun back roads route down to Solvang that turned out to be a great drive which we will use again this year. I’m working on getting a good parking lot that will be safe for our cars in Solvang. The day in Solvang (a wonderful Danish Village) will be a day for wondering around checking the town out on your own or in groups, it’s up to the individuals. Lunch will be at your leisure giving everyone the chance to roam around. We will meet back at the cars and ready to leave by 3:00pm which will give everyone time to get back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner at A.J. Spurs in Grover City at 7:30pm. Breakfast Sunday we have the same options as Saturday although Marie Calendars is a brunch only at about $15.00 each which may be a little pricey, there are a few restaurants within 10 min. walking distance from the hotel. On the way back up the coast highway the same way we came down we could plan on stopping for a tour of Hearst Castle, let me know what you think. http://a6.cpimg.com/image/F8/4A/4702...-028001A1-.jpg Sea Crest Hotel in Pismo Beach When you call to make a reservation tell them it’s for the Cobra Coast Cruise for the evenings of June 3rd(Friday) & 4th (Saturday). Don,
I must have missed it  what are the dates? |
LOL thanks Phil, of all the planning and I forget one small detail like the DATES. Good eye. I have added them to the post which is June 3rd, 4th & 5th.
Thanks again, Don |
Thanks Don. Sounds like a great trip. Unfortunately, I'm going to be on the Oregon coast on those dates - I'm retiring on the 22nd (in five days!) and will be living a life of leasure :D :D :D :D Maybe next year - keep those opportunities coming. See you in Reno at the WSCB **) **)
