Hey Bob: I think I got a roller, well at least the it has four tires on it to roll around. ford 9inch rear. mustang II front, the body is just like the factory delivered it. all the parts are still in the boxes. the way it came about was the owner priced it to me for 8500.00 and I thought that sounded like a good deal. time will tell.

John, I,m assuming you are going from wild to mild on your "bump stick". I have a KC 427 612HP. Too much for cruising. Going to install Rhoads lifters.
I know a lot of gearheads who swear by them. Your thoughts? Billyboy

The car has straight through(as in NO muffler) side pipes! It was fun until a few of my neigbors showed up at my front door!!

jmarsey 12-11-2006 08:50 PM

BB,

I don't know how wild or mild, but staying with the Crane solid roller. We are just trying to build more torque, starting 3500 / 4000 rpm vs 4500 / 5000, and make the car quicker. It will be interesting to see how this new cam behaves in relation to top end pull.

I don't know anything about the Rhoads variable duration lifters. It would not be my approach but sounds like they work well for the folks who use them. Looks like they make a solid product.

Let us know how they workout.

Talk soon, John

decooney 12-11-2006 09:15 PM

John,
Hey Man... nothin' but Jesel Roller Lifters starting at $1,795.00 for Baby Cam!

Hahahaha.

jmarsey 12-11-2006 10:59 PM

Duane,

When Jon Bennett told me that, he didn't even hesitate. He was like, "well that's just the standard", you know? Like drinking a glass of water or something.

What ever happened to just making a little extra hp and having some fun?

John

maurice19 12-12-2006 10:22 AM

John,

If you got it, spend it.

What does the weather look like for Sat?
Maurice

pgermond 12-15-2006 01:28 PM

Saturday's forecast - partly cloudy and nippely

My wife has the bug for a new car, so I may be predisposed tomorrow.... but there is always a chance. Any plans for a place?

maurice19 12-15-2006 03:12 PM

I like those New Bugs too, Phil. Your wife has good taste.

I think if no one comes up with a plan, I`ll go to Mels` for breakfast and then over to Fe Enterprises and say hi to Tom and John Marsey.
I took a small ride Thursday to keep my heart rate up.

Maurice

pgermond 12-15-2006 03:52 PM

Maurice my friend,

I may drive over to ACE and buy some bug-b-gone  Mel's in Folsom?

maurice19 12-15-2006 05:35 PM

Good one,

Folsom, unless some one comes up with another plan.

Maurice

decooney 12-15-2006 07:54 PM

Maurice,
FYI... Appears they'll be finishing up in the morning. New Baby roller cam is installed, new timing chain, valves adjusted, just waiting on a new distributor from Reno. Man, those solid roller cams are living up to their reputation once again and can be quite expensive before and after purchase. Maybe I'll see you all at Mel's minus Cobra.

vince911cobra 12-15-2006 10:10 PM

John

Good luck with the cam, just when I thought there was nothing better you could do with your JBL,you came up with something. You'll like your new cam.

Duane & Maurice
I'll have to pass on Mels, too many things to wrap up at the house before I go back East for the holidays. Have fun!!

thudmaster 12-15-2006 11:28 PM

I'm staying home sick........sorry.:(

jmarsey 12-16-2006 08:27 AM

Vince,

Thanks! I can always use a little luck with that car so thanks for the thought. My timing was good though with this cam change. We found a very stretched timing chain and a distributor gear with no teeth. I think we caught it just in time. I'll keep you posted. :)

Maurice,

I hope to see you and Duane later. Tom was having a rough day yesterday, nothing seemed to go right for him, and could use some cheering up. He also has an drag race FE at the shop right now, he just finished, which is going to LA very soon. He fired it last night and OMG what a monster. Hope to see you.

John

pgermond 12-16-2006 04:14 PM

Maurice & Duane,

That early morning ride wasn't quite cold enough for me, but standing on that cement floor in Tom's shop did the trick! Some nice looking stuff in there.... including John's Boss JBL :) Sorry I couldn't stick around a bit longer to hear it, but my teeth were chattering so loud I probably wouldn't have heard it anyway.

It's now 3PM and I can at last feel my toes :p

Phil,
Except for the different hearth, that could be a picture of me. Same slippers and insert.

I hope Doug made it home ok . smile

Maurice

pgermond 12-17-2006 09:20 PM

Maurice,

I've had the stove going 24/7 and most likely will for the next several days. Doug peeled off and went after some hottie in a Mustang.... but I headed home ;)
